Description

We are looking for an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to support manufacturing finance operations in Huntsville, Alabama. This long-term contract opportunity is suited for a detail-oriented candidate who can strengthen cost controls, improve inventory accuracy, and provide reliable financial insight within a publicly traded company environment. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting and a hands-on approach to reconciliation, analysis, and process oversight.

Responsibilities:

Lead cost accounting activities for manufacturing operations, ensuring accurate product costing and timely financial reporting.

Review inventory movements and valuation trends to identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.

Oversee inventory reconciliation processes by comparing physical counts, system records, and financial data to resolve variances.

Coordinate and support annual inventory procedures, helping maintain compliance with internal controls and reporting standards.

Analyze cost drivers, production results, and inventory balances to deliver meaningful insights to finance and operations leadership.

Work within SAP to monitor inventory transactions, validate cost data, and maintain the integrity of financial information.

Partner with cross-functional teams to strengthen inventory controls and support consistent accounting practices across the business.

Requirements - At least 7 years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting.

Proven background in inventory analysis, reconciliation, and annual inventory processes.

Experience working in a publicly traded company environment.

Strong proficiency with SAP for inventory and cost accounting activities.

Solid understanding of inventory valuation, standard costing, and manufacturing finance controls.

Ability to investigate variances, interpret financial data, and recommend corrective actions.

Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across finance and operations teams.
