We are seeking a dedicated Construction Project Manager to join a dynamic team at a leading employee-owned commercial general contractor. Responsibilities
Manage multiple commercial interior renovation, fit-out, and facilities projects from kickoff through closeout.
Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
Review drawings, specifications, contracts, submittals, and construction documents to support project execution.
Build and maintain project schedules, monitor milestones, and proactively address delays or roadblocks.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Track project costs, budgets, RFIs, change orders, procurement activities, and overall financial performance.
Conduct project meetings with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to communicate schedules, expectations, and project status.
Partner closely with Superintendents and field teams to ensure safe, high-quality execution of all work.
Monitor subcontractor performance and resolve field issues, scheduling conflicts, and project challenges.
Support estimating, pricing, budgeting, and value engineering efforts when required.
Prepare project reports, meeting minutes, forecasting updates, and closeout documentation.
Ensure all work complies with company safety standards, client requirements, and applicable building codes.
Build long-term relationships with repeat clients including major retail, restaurant, and commercial accounts.
Utilize project management software and internal systems to maintain project documentation, schedules, and communication records.
Essential Skills
3-10+ years of commercial construction experience.
Experience with interior fit-outs, renovations, tenant improvements, and refresh/remodel projects.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent commercial projects.
Experience coordinating subcontractors.
Skills in scheduling, budgeting, RFIs, and change orders.
Strong client-facing communication skills.
Experience reviewing plans and construction documents.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or Primavera P6.
Degree in Construction Management or Engineering.
OSHA 30 certification.
Experience in retail construction, restaurant construction, commercial renovations, facility improvement programs, hospitality renovations, banking renovations, QSR programs, or corporate interior build-outs.
Work Environment
The position is based in an office environment 70% of the time with 30% regional travel. Employees work Monday through Friday and have access to a company truck, laptop, cell phone, and corporate credit card. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portage, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.84 - $43.27/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
