Job Description
This role prepares high-quality food in a fast-paced, 24/7 casino kitchen and restaurant environment. The position focuses on executing menu items to standard recipes, maintaining strict food safety and sanitation practices, and supporting a positive guest experience by delivering consistent, timely, and accurate food orders. You will work closely with kitchen and dining room teams while upholding professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
Responsibilities
Prepare all food items according to established standard recipes and menu specifications to ensure consistent quality for guests.
Read and interpret food orders from computer printouts and accurately prepare the corresponding food items.
Wash, slice, peel, and cut a variety of foods to prepare them for cooking or serving.
Observe and test foods to determine if they are cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing with utensils.
Ensure all work procedures, quality standards, and menu specifications are executed in line with established guidelines.
Coordinate with and clearly communicate orders to dining room staff to support smooth service.
Complete all assigned prep items as listed on prep sheets in a timely and organized manner.
Use and maintain all assigned work areas, tools, and kitchen equipment in a sanitary, safe, and efficient manner.
Apply and enforce Health Department regulations regarding food handling, storage, steam table temperatures, and cleanliness of the work environment.
Complete opening, closing, and other side duties as assigned by supervisors or culinary leadership.
Remain open and available to work a 24/7 schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in alignment with casino operating hours.
Essential Skills
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with fluency and literacy in English.
Basic reading and math skills to accurately follow recipes and measurements.
Demonstrated ability to prepare a wide variety of food items to standard in a high-volume, fast-paced operation.
Demonstrated understanding and practical knowledge of sanitation procedures and food safety practices.
Ability and willingness to work a 24/7 schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required by casino operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience as a line cook, chef, or in a similar back-of-house food preparation role in a restaurant or casino environment.
Experience with inventory control and maintaining adequate stock levels for a busy kitchen.
Ability to perform quality checks on food items to ensure consistency, presentation, and adherence to standards.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong teamwork skills and a positive, professional attitude in interactions with both kitchen and dining room staff.

Work Environment
The position is based in a busy kitchen and restaurant setting within a 24/7 casino environment. You will work in a fast-paced back-of-house area that involves exposure to heat, steam, and kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, and steam tables. The operation runs around the clock, so shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The role requires standing for extended periods, frequent movement, and safe handling of hot items, sharp tools, and cleaning chemicals in accordance with health and safety standards. The organization provides uniforms, and team members receive free meals during their shifts. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to sanitation and food safety regulations, as well as consistent use of Standard Operating Procedures to maintain quality and efficiency.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
