Job Description The Administrative Assistant for the School of Education provides advanced and diversified administrative and secretarial support services for the Office of the Director, the Associate Director for Graduate Programs, the Assistant Director/Field Placement, Records and Career Services, Program Directors and faculty of the SOE graduate programs.

Major responsibilities include providing administrative and secretarial assistance in supporting the SOE in the growth and development of its various graduate programs and initiatives at all FDU NJ and international campuses, as well as its off-campus programs in local school districts and communities; communicating office policies, procedures and practices to students, university and local school district personnel, the NJ Department of Education, and the community-at-large; coordinating and monitoring record-keeping procedures and various activities related to programs, recruitment, faculty, staff, students and alumni; budget maintenance and monitoring for graduate programs; researching information for supervisor(s); and communicating with SOE faculty and students, to ensure understanding and compliance with SOE/university policies and procedures, as well as those of the NJ Department of Education.

Additional responsibilities involve administrative and secretarial support for: payroll and budget processes; course scheduling; faculty and student records; faculty advisement scheduling; purchasing; ordering supplies/resource materials; and data management, analysis and reporting.

Completion of commercial courses related to secretarial, general office and administrative skills, or demonstrated equivalency through work experience. College credits preferred.
A minimum of 3 years administrative work experience, preferably in a multi-faceted, fast-paced work environment, including office oversight responsibilities, experience with budget maintenance, and interfacing with multiple organizational units.
Experience and a high level of proficiency related to the use of diverse technologies, data processing, data analysis and reporting; and applications to tasks using word processing, database, spreadsheets, graphics, on-line services, etc; proficiency in current software programs, i.e., Word and Excel preferred; knowledge of WordPerfect, Lotus, PowerPoint, Datatel, etc. a plus. Ability to quickly learn various information processing modalities as required.
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability, and organizational skills.
Strong figure aptitude and demonstrated clerical accounting and/or bookkeeping skills.
