Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support litigation operations in Saint Louis, Missouri. This position focuses on coordinating medical record requests, managing incoming and outgoing case-related mail, and assisting attorneys and staff with document handling in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, accuracy in legal documentation, and the ability to keep sensitive materials moving efficiently through the case process.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate the intake, sorting, and distribution of legal correspondence, medical documentation, and other case materials received through the mail room.

Prepare, submit, and track court and electronic filings to help maintain timely case activity and procedural compliance.

Request medical records from providers, follow up on outstanding items, and maintain organized documentation of all requests and responses.

Review incoming medical records for completeness and relevance, then route materials to the appropriate legal team members for case use.

Maintain attorney calendars and monitor filing deadlines, hearings, and other litigation-related dates to support smooth case progression.

Assist with document preparation for plaintiff-side civil litigation matters, including assembling records, correspondence, and filing packets.

Organize and update case files to ensure records, pleadings, and supporting materials are accurate, accessible, and properly filed.

Support asbestos litigation matters by helping manage record collection, document flow, and administrative coordination across assigned cases. Requirements - Prior experience in a legal assistant, litigation support, or mail room role within a law firm or legal department.

Working knowledge of court filing procedures, including electronic filing and document submission standards.

Experience requesting, tracking, and handling medical records with a high level of confidentiality and accuracy.

Familiarity with civil litigation processes, preferably in plaintiff-focused matters.

Ability to review legal and medical documents carefully and identify missing or incomplete information.

Strong calendar management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.

Proficiency with standard office software and legal document management systems.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a dependable, detail-focused work style.
