Job Title: Senior Accountant
Job Description
This Senior Accountant role offers the opportunity to lead a broad range of domestic and international accounting activities within a dynamic, mission-focused organization. You will ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of financial operations, including general ledger management, financial reporting, contract invoicing, VAT oversight, cash-flow forecasting, and month-end close. The position requires strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of government contractor accounting requirements, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams while independently managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Perform daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll activities, and provide hands-on support during peak periods and staff absences.
Manage international contract invoicing, including foreign-currency billing and VAT tax calculations, to ensure accurate and compliant billing.
Review VAT filings for accuracy, completeness, and proper alignment of supporting financial data prior to submission for approval.
Prepare and analyze monthly financial performance reports, including revenue and income/loss analysis, as well as quarterly financial results.
Prepare a 13-week cash forecast, providing financial input on payment timing and adjustments to support effective cash-flow management.
Coordinate the month-end closing process, ensuring timely completion of all accounting and financial reporting activities.
Prepare and review international journal entries for accuracy and compliance prior to approval.
Support the preparation of budgets and indirect rate projections to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.
Provide support for annual financial audits, including preparation of provisional billing rates and responses to auditor inquiries.
Support the forecasting process by preparing projections that include revenue, direct and indirect costs, and unallowable costs.
Participate in the preparation of quarterly forecasts, monthly financial reports, and other financial status updates as needed.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses of financial statements, including variance explanations and operational insights.
Support the annual insurance renewal process by providing required financial data and analysis.
Participate in meetings and coordinate ad hoc financial deliverables to support business operations and organizational objectives.
Essential Skills
5-7 years of applicable accounting experience.
Strong understanding of the financial applications of the FAR to oversee daily accounting functions for a federal government contractor.
Working knowledge of GAAP, FAR/DFAR, SBA, GSA, and the Service Contract Act.
Proficiency with Deltek Costpoint, NetSuite, and QuickBooks Time.
Advanced computer skills, including strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate financial reports, statements, and projections.
Ability to effectively prepare and present financial information and analysis to management.
Experience supporting accounting and/or finance operations within a government contracting environment, including financial reporting, cost accounting, project accounting, and financial forecasting.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting and across departments.
Strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and proficiency with financial calculations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with international accounting processes, including foreign currency transactions, international invoicing, and VAT tax requirements.
Experience with governmental travel regulations, including knowledge of allowable and unallowable expenses in accordance with applicable contract requirements.
Experience applying approved labor, indirect, and billing rates to support accurate project costing, invoicing, and financial reporting.
Interest in working within a technology-driven organization that delivers immersive, high-fidelity training environments using VR, AR, and MR simulation systems.
Comfort working in an environment that values entrepreneurial spirit, disciplined execution, and long-term customer relationships.
Work Environment
This position is based on-site Monday through Friday, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule after approximately 90 days on-site. You will join a small, collaborative accounting team where this role will be the third team member, working closely with other accounting professionals in a supportive and highly engaged environment. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $60.10/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
