Description

The Finance Manager is responsible for leading the financial operations of the organization in partnership with the Executive Director. This role oversees budgeting, financial reporting, grant management, fiscal compliance, contractual business processes, and operational planning to support the organization's mission. The Finance Manager ensures adherence to Salvation Army policies and procedures, applicable government and insurance requirements, and accreditation standards while helping to drive strategic business initiatives for the facility.

Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (could include occasional weekends or evenings)

Responsibilities for the position include the following:

Partner with the Executive Director to develop and manage the annual budget and ensure fiscal compliance.

Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end/year-end close processes.

Approve accounts payable and maintain accurate financial records across multiple funding sources and fiscal timelines.

Prepare project and proposal budgets and manage grant funds for client and operational needs.

Monitor revenue and expenses, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.

Oversee contractual business processes and ensure compliance with Medicaid, insurance, government, and other funding requirements.

Support insurance and funding source credentialing and ongoing renewals.

Help develop strategic business plans for the facility.

Ensure compliance with CARF standards and assist with internal and external audits.

Oversee petty cash and Gift-In-Kind donation tracking processes.

Supervise direct reports, including hiring, coaching, and documenting supervision sessions.

Prepare and present financial and operational reports to leadership, advisory groups, and headquarters staff.

Participate in committees, staff trainings, in-service meetings, and fundraising activities.

Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting required.

Master's degree in Business or a related field strongly preferred.

Extensive business experience in a nonprofit setting may be considered in lieu of advanced education.

Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience required.

If highest degree is a bachelor's degree: 5 years of professional business experience required.

If highest degree is a master's degree: 2 years of professional business experience required.

At least 1 year of Governmental Contract Management experience preferred.

Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis skills.

Experience with grant fund management and nonprofit financial operations.

Knowledge of Medicaid, insurance, governmental, and contractual compliance requirements.

Familiarity with CARF standards and audit support.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a mission-driven environment.

Commitment to policy compliance, operational excellence, and service-focused leadership.
