Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: As an Engineering Tech (Drafting), GS-0802-7/8/9, you will develop and maintain CADD drawings/as-builts, manage document storage systems, conduct GPS/Total Station surveys, plot data to generate 3D terrain models, and monitor geotechnical instrumentation for dams and civil works. Responsibilities Develops, updates, and maintains mechanical, electrical, and civil CADD/MicroStation drawings from on-site inspections, rough sketches, and redlines. Research, recreates, and updates historical and as-built project drawings; performs field verifications to reconcile discrepancies with physical structures. Conducts topographic, boundary, and dam-monitoring surveys using GPS and Total Station equipment; processes field data to create accurate maps, 3D Terrain Models, and drawings. Maintains and organizes paper and electronic files into databases for drawings, specifications, and other technical data. Collects readings on geotechnical and structural instrumentation to monitor the stability and performance of dams, levees, and hydraulic structures. Collects, analyzes, and formats field data and water measurements into electronic reports to support engineering evaluations and project design modifications. GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software (such as Bentley MicroStation or AutoCAD) to produce, modify, or maintain technical drawings; AND assisting with field investigations, taking physical measurements, or collecting basic field survey/instrumentation data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). GS-08: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing CADD software (such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar applications) to develop, modify, or update civil, mechanical, electrical, or architectural drawings from rough sketches, redlines, or field notes; AND performing routine field data collection, conducting basic surveying, or gathering structural/environmental monitoring measurements; AND maintaining and updating paper and electronic file databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing, revising, and maintaining detailed engineering drawings, maps, or as-builts using CADD software (such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar applications) based on field investigations, redlines, or project specifications; AND conducting topographic, boundary, or construction surveys using GPS, Total Station, or conventional surveying equipment and processing raw data into drawings OR operating, testing, or recording data from field instrumentation used to evaluate the condition, settlement, or stability of civil structures, earthworks, foundations, or infrastructure; AND maintaining and updating paper and electronic file databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
