Job Description
This 3rd shift Maintenance Technician role focuses on setting up, operating, repairing, and maintaining corrugated packaging machinery in a high-volume industrial environment. You will diagnose mechanical and basic electrical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and support equipment moves and installations. The position requires advanced mechanical aptitude, basic electrical knowledge, and hands-on experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate a variety of tools and equipment to fabricate, repair, and maintain corrugated packaging machinery.
Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose malfunctions and determine the need for adjustment or repair.
Study blueprints, sketches, machine parts, and specifications to determine the @type and dimensions of metal stock required for repairs or fabrication.
Move existing equipment and assist with the installation and setup of new equipment as needed.
Dismantle machines or equipment to examine parts for defects or to remove defective components.
Replace defective parts with new components or repair/reproduce parts from various kinds of metal stock.
Assemble machines and perform test operations to verify that malfunctions have been corrected.
Maintain and lubricate machine tools and equipment to ensure reliable operation.
Monitor and audit equipment performance, perform calibrations, and carry out scheduled preventative maintenance tasks.
Install plumbing and associated fittings to support equipment and facility needs.
Install electrical conduit and electrical conductors in accordance with local, state, and federal codes.
Install pneumatic and hydraulic hoses and fittings, and ensure proper operation of these systems.
Lift and move heavy objects, up to 70 pounds, in a safe and controlled manner.
Obtain and maintain required licenses, including a forklift license and any other applicable equipment operation licenses.
Follow and comply with company policies, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Work regular and predictable hours on 3rd shift and support overtime needs, including up to 8 hours on Friday when required.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support maintenance, production, and facility operations.
Essential Skills
Advanced mechanical skills with experience in preventative and reactive maintenance in an industrial environment.
Basic electrical knowledge, including controls, troubleshooting, and reading electrical schematics.
Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting on industrial equipment, including 3-phase systems, within the scope of basic electrical responsibilities.
Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems and the ability to repair these systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation.
Experience with maintenance technician duties in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Ability to diagnose mechanical and basic electrical issues by observing and listening to operating equipment.
Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds and work safely around moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, noise, and other industrial hazards.
High school diploma or GED.
One to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job, as verified through prior experience or assessment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with PLC troubleshooting and PLC control systems.
Familiarity with conveyors and material handling equipment.
Ability to install and work with plumbing, fittings, and related systems.
Experience installing electrical conduit and conductors in compliance with local, state, and federal codes.
Exposure to HVAC systems and basic understanding of their operation.
Welding experience for repair and light fabrication tasks.
Current Arc Flash certification or the ability to obtain Arc Flash training and certification within company guidelines.
Comfort working at heights and in high, precarious places when needed.
Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license and other required equipment operation certifications.
Strong attention to detail, safety focus, and adherence to maintenance best practices.

Work Environment
This role is on 3rd shift, working four 10-hour shifts from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Monday through Thursday, with the potential for up to 8 hours of overtime on Friday. The position is based in a manufacturing plant with corrugated packaging machinery and industrial equipment. While performing the job, you will regularly work around moving mechanical parts and frequently be exposed to extreme heat. You may occasionally encounter fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration, and high or precarious places. There is frequent exposure to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level is usually very loud, and hearing protection is required at all times in designated areas. Safety glasses are required within the plant, and EH-rated safety shoes or safety boots made of leather are mandatory. The environment is hands-on, industrial, and safety-focused, with an expectation that all employees follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
