Description

: Under general supervision, the Accounting Technician Senior performs routine general accounting functions and may work in different finance functional areas as needed.

Posted range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.

Examples of Duties

: Prepares and maintains various contract/project files. This includes providing information or reports to management as needed on various city projects, programs or grants.

Prepares and submits requests for payment and/or reimbursement related to various city projects, programs or grants.

Prepares general journal entries and assists with annual external audit as needed.

Reconciles various general ledger accounts and funds in compliance with accounting requirements

Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls.

Assists Accounting Supervisor or Accounting Manager on special projects as requested.

Communicates with departments and outside agencies to clarify technical issues and resolve problems.

Provides guidance to staff on processes, regulations, and use of funds, as appropriate.

Experience and Training

: Associate's degree and/or 60 units in accounting, finance, business, or related field from an accredited college or university.

Minimum of three (3) years accounting or related finance experience. Additional experience may substitute for education on a year-to-year basis.

Certificates and Licenses Required

: Valid Class C Texas driver license
