Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Receptionist to support daily front-desk operations for a nonprofit organization. This contract position is ideal for someone who presents a welcoming presence and can create a positive experience for visitors, callers, and staff. The role involves managing a busy reception area, handling incoming calls through a multi-line phone system, and providing dependable administrative support in a business-casual office environment.

Responsibilities:

Welcome guests, employees, and community visitors in a courteous and attentive manner while maintaining an organized front-desk area.

Answer and route incoming calls using a multi-line switchboard, ensuring messages are handled accurately and promptly.

Provide general administrative assistance such as monitoring common office needs, supporting basic clerical tasks, and helping maintain smooth day-to-day operations.

Respond to routine inquiries from callers and visitors, directing requests to the appropriate team members or departments.

Keep reception and shared spaces presentable and aligned with workplace standards for an organized office setting.

Support scheduling, coordination, or check-in activities as needed to help the office run efficiently.

Communicate clearly with staff and external contacts to ensure timely follow-up and consistent front-office service. Requirements - Previous experience in a receptionist, front-desk, or customer-facing administrative role.

Ability to manage a multi-line phone system with confidence and accuracy.

Detail-oriented presentation and strong interpersonal skills suited to a public-facing environment.

Clear verbal communication skills and a dependable approach to handling routine office responsibilities.

Comfortable working onsite in Oakland, California in a business-casual setting.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance walk-in traffic, phone activity, and administrative tasks.
