A mid-sized law firm is seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to support the firm's billing and revenue cycle operations. This position is responsible for preparing and processing attorney invoices, ensuring compliance with client billing guidelines, managing electronic billing submissions, and serving as a liaison between attorneys, staff, and clients regarding billing matters. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, service-focused, and experienced in a law firm environment.

Responsibilities:

Prepare, review, and finalize client invoices with close attention to accuracy, billing guidelines, and submission deadlines.

Maintain time and billing records by verifying entries, updating account details, and ensuring charges are properly documented.

Collaborate with attorneys, finance personnel, and administrative staff to research billing questions and resolve invoice variances.

Process billing adjustments, corrections, write-downs, and reissues in accordance with client requirements and internal procedures.

Generate recurring and ad hoc billing reports using available accounting and reporting tools to support financial oversight.

Monitor accounts for incomplete time entries, missing matter information, or billing inconsistencies and follow up to obtain corrections.

Use billing and customer management systems to organize account activity, track invoice status, and maintain accurate client records.

Assist with system-related billing workflows and reporting updates when changes to platforms or processes affect invoicing operations.

Requirements

Experience in legal billing, timekeeping, or a comparable billing support role.

Working knowledge of billing functions and invoice preparation within a services or legal setting.

Proficiency with financial systems, CRM platforms, and time entry or billing software such as About Time.

Ability to analyze billing data, identify discrepancies, and complete corrections with a high degree of accuracy.

Familiarity with reporting tools and the ability to produce billing-related summaries for internal stakeholders.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize a steady volume of work.

Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and addressing billing inquiries.
