The VDC Terminal Manager is responsible for overseeing terminal operations, ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining customer satisfaction, supporting financial performance, and fostering a safe and compliant work environment.
Summary
The VDC Terminal Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for terminal activities, ensuring that customer expectations, safety standards, and business objectives are consistently achieved. This role is responsible for managing daily operations, monitoring financial performance, maintaining quality management systems, and leading employees to achieve operational goals. The position collaborates closely with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support efficient service delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Terminal Operations & Service Delivery
Direct daily terminal operations to ensure safe, efficient, and productive performance.
Enforce company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
Monitor operational activities and conduct routine terminal inspections to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Maintain a safe working environment by supporting and enforcing established safety programs.
Ensure operational resources are effectively allocated to meet customer requirements and business objectives.
Financial Management & Budget Administration
Assist in the development and management of annual operating budgets.
Monitor departmental expenses and controllable labor costs to support financial performance goals.
Review weekly and monthly financial reports and identify opportunities for cost improvement.
Review open accounts receivable balances and support collection and resolution efforts.
Approve operational purchases in accordance with company policies and budget requirements.
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Maintain and support the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with company and customer requirements.
Monitor operational processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and service levels.
Ensure compliance with applicable company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Support audits, inspections, and corrective action initiatives as needed.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers, employees, and business partners.
Communicate operational updates, issues, and performance expectations in a professional and timely manner.
Partner with customers to address concerns and ensure service expectations are met.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational objectives and customer commitments.
Leadership & People Management
Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and support to terminal employees.
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Support employee development and operational training initiatives.
Foster a positive work environment focused on safety, productivity, and customer service.

Supervisory Responsibility
Yes. This position has direct supervisory responsibility for terminal operations employees and is responsible for providing leadership, direction, coaching, and performance oversight.
Qualifications Required
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.
Experience:
Minimum two years of related operations, logistics, transportation, terminal, automotive, or industrial management experience.
Skills:
Experience reviewing operational and financial performance metrics.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage operational priorities while maintaining safety and customer service standards.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and business systems.
Other:
Ability to obtain and maintain eRailSafe certification.
Preferred
Experience managing terminal, rail, logistics, automotive, or port operations.
Experience with quality management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience managing budgets, labor costs, and operational performance metrics.
Experience leading teams in an industrial or transportation environment.
Work Environment
Work is performed in both office and terminal operating environments.
Approximately 80% of the role involves performing operational checks in outdoor environments.
Regular exposure to varying weather conditions, vehicle traffic, moving equipment, and operational activity.
Physical Demands
Performs light to moderate physical activities associated with administrative and operational management functions.
Regular standing, walking, climbing, reaching, and movement throughout terminal operations areas.
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment and handle operational materials.
Work Schedule
Full-time position.
Primarily Monday through Friday, day shift schedule.
Overtime and extended hours may be required based on operational demands.
Travel Requirements
Minimal travel, up to 10%, by land and/or air.
Work Authorization / Security Clearance
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain eRailSafe certification.
