Job Title: Survey Helper / Construction LaborerJob Description
This role combines construction labor and survey support on a large-scale data center construction project in Monrovia, Indiana. You will work alongside experienced survey crews and construction teams to assist with field activities, material handling, and layout tasks that keep the project moving safely and efficiently. This position offers significant overtime, weekend work, and an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in surveying and construction on a major project, even if you have no prior surveying background.
Responsibilities
Assist survey crews and field personnel with daily construction and survey-related activities on the job site.
Carry materials, tools, and equipment throughout the site to support ongoing operations.
Drive stakes and nails to clearly mark locations, grades, and reference points for construction work.
Mark grades for drilled shafts, aggregate piers, rebar placement, and foundation work as directed.
Assist with as-built data collection to document completed work and verify field conditions.
Follow directions from Crew Chiefs and field supervisors to complete assigned tasks accurately and on time.
Perform general labor duties as needed to support overall project progress and crew efficiency.
Work safely around heavy equipment and active construction operations, maintaining awareness of surroundings.
Comply with all project safety requirements, site rules, and procedures, including attending required safety training.
Essential Skills
Previous experience in construction, general labor, landscaping, utilities, excavation, concrete work, surveying, or other outdoor labor is preferred.
No prior surveying experience required; willingness to learn survey support tasks on the job.
Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout a full 10-12 hour day.
Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment as needed across the job site.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
Strong work ethic with the ability to follow directions and work as part of a field crew.
Reliable transportation to and from the job site in Monrovia, Indiana.
Steel-toe boots required for safety on the construction site.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Willingness to complete site-specific safety training prior to starting work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Backgrounds such as Construction Laborer, Concrete Laborer, Utility Laborer, Excavation Laborer, Survey Technician, Survey Rodman, or General Laborer are highly relevant.
Interest in developing skills in surveying, layout, and field data collection on large construction projects.
Comfort working around heavy equipment and large-scale construction operations.
Dependability and consistency in attendance, especially given the extended hours and weekend work.
Work Environment
This position is based on a large-scale data center construction project in Monrovia, Indiana. You will typically work 10-12 hour days with significant overtime opportunities, and weekend work should be anticipated. The role is entirely field-based, requiring you to work outdoors in varying weather conditions around active construction operations and heavy equipment. The environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, with frequent walking, lifting, carrying, and staking across uneven terrain. You must wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including steel-toe boots, and comply with all safety rules and site procedures. Site-specific safety training is provided and required before starting. The project's initial phase is expected to last approximately 6-8 weeks, with potential for additional work as the project progresses, offering substantial exposure to survey support and construction practices on a major infrastructure project.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
