Job Description
The Construction Technician performs a wide range of general construction and site support activities on a large commercial data center project. This role focuses on material handling, site cleanliness, and assisting skilled trades while consistently following all safety and PPE requirements. You help ensure the jobsite is organized, protected, and set up to support a safe and efficient flow of work.
Responsibilities
Perform general construction and site support duties as directed by project leadership.
Load, unload, and move materials, tools, and equipment safely around the jobsite.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, including regular site clean-up and debris removal.
Assist carpenters, foremen, and other project leaders with tasks such as framing, formwork, concrete finishing, and other carpentry-related activities as needed.
Support installation and maintenance of temporary protection, barricades, and jobsite setup to promote a safe and efficient workflow.
Follow all site safety requirements, including proper use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
Use hand tools and power tools safely and correctly for basic construction tasks.
Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, and remain productive and safety-focused.
Perform a variety of labor tasks as needed, including general labor, clean-up, and assisting multiple trade partners.
Demonstrate strong attendance, reliability, and a consistent commitment to safety on the jobsite.
Essential Skills
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
Ability to work outdoors in heat and all weather conditions and remain comfortable with getting dirty on the job.
Experience working on commercial or industrial construction sites preferred.
Strong attendance record and reliability in reporting to work as scheduled.
Strong safety record and commitment to following all safety requirements and PPE standards.
Ability to perform general labor and construction clean-up tasks efficiently.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely.
Basic understanding of carpentry tasks such as framing, formwork, and concrete finishing.
Self-motivated, safety-conscious, and hard-working approach in a busy jobsite environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
OSHA 10 certification preferred but not required.
Prior experience on large commercial or industrial projects is an advantage.
Comfort working on a complex site with multiple trade partners and ongoing building activity.
Ability to follow directions from carpenters, foremen, and project leadership and work effectively as part of a team.

Work Environment
This role is based on a large, multi-building data center construction site in York, SC, with outdoor work in all weather conditions, including heat. The project consists of six buildings, with multiple active structures and several additional buildings scheduled for construction, resulting in a busy, dynamic environment with many trade partners on site. You will work in a physically demanding setting that requires self-motivation, strict adherence to safety practices, and consistent use of appropriate PPE. The atmosphere is fast-paced and construction-focused, where getting dirty, handling materials, and performing a variety of tasks are part of daily work.

This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
