Description

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day financial operations for an import/export organization in Covington, Louisiana. This contract position with permanent potential is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing both payables and receivables in a fast-paced business environment. The person in this role will help maintain accurate records, reconcile accounts, and contribute to efficient accounting processes using QuickBooks.

Responsibilities:

Process vendor invoices, verify coding accuracy, and prepare payments in a timely manner.

Manage customer billing activities, record incoming payments, and follow up on outstanding balances as needed.

Reconcile bank statements and accounting records to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Maintain accurate financial documentation and ensure transactions are entered correctly in QuickBooks.

Assist with day-to-day accounting support by organizing records and tracking routine account activity.

Review invoice details for completeness and proper account allocation before submission.

Partner with internal team members to help keep accounting operations organized and up to date.

Requirements - Experience supporting accounting functions such as accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Ability to perform bank reconciliations with strong attention to detail.

Hands-on experience using QuickBooks for transaction entry and record maintenance.

Knowledge of invoice coding and general accounting documentation practices.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately.

Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordination with internal teams and external contacts.
