Job Title: Welder/Fabricator Job Description
This role supports a busy weld and fabrication shop that builds custom emergency vehicles to precise customer specifications. You will focus on MIG and TIG welding on aluminum and steel, interpreting blueprints and schematics, and contributing to the fabrication of custom ambulances used by municipalities across the United States. The position involves hands-on work with welding equipment, layout and fitting tasks, and general use of hand and air-powered tools in a production environment.
Responsibilities
Perform high-quality MIG and TIG welding on aluminum and steel components for custom emergency vehicles.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and layout drawings to build and assemble parts according to customer specifications.
Lay out, fit, and position parts accurately for welding, including vertical and horizontal welds.
Use hand tools and air-powered tools such as grinders, sanders, rivet guns, and saws to prepare, fabricate, and finish parts.
Measure materials accurately using a tape measure and apply basic math skills, including adding and subtracting fractions, to ensure precise fabrication.
Follow detailed job lists for each production cell and complete assigned tasks within established three-hour production cycles.
Maintain welding equipment and tools in safe, working condition and report any issues promptly.
Adhere to AWS welding certification standards and maintain the ability to pass required AWS certifications.
Work collaboratively within fabrication and assembly cells to keep production moving on schedule and meet strict deadlines.
Comply with all safety procedures and quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Skills
Very strong MIG welding ability on aluminum and steel.
Very strong TIG welding ability on aluminum and steel.
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for layout and fabrication work.
Proficiency in layout, fitting, and positioning parts for vertical and horizontal welding.
Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic math, including adding and subtracting fractions.
Experience operating air-powered tools such as grinders, sanders, rivet guns, and saws.
Ability to maintain and pass AWS welding certifications.
Comfort working in a deadline-oriented manufacturing environment with defined production cycles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a weld and fabrication shop or similar manufacturing environment.

Work Environment
The work environment is clean, well-organized, and structured around production cells dedicated to different assemblies of the ambulance. The weld and fabrication shop is located at the back of the plant, where all jobs begin. Work is highly deadline-oriented, with each cell receiving a list of tasks that must be completed within a three-hour production cycle to keep the line moving. The main manufacturing area is not climate controlled, so temperatures can become very warm during the summer. Team members regularly use welding equipment, hand tools, and air-powered tools in a busy, collaborative shop setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grove City, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
