Job Description
The Industrial Maintenance Technician supports safe and efficient operations by performing a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and facility maintenance tasks. This role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing production and building equipment, performing preventive and predictive maintenance, and assisting with equipment installations and modifications. The position requires strong technical aptitude, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair production equipment and building systems using electrical, mechanical, and PLC knowledge.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on machinery and facility systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
Assist with the installation of new equipment and modifications to existing equipment to support production and facility improvements.
Maintain facility areas, including walkways, entryways, and general building spaces, to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
Complete maintenance tasks involving electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, welding, fabrication, and general repairs.
Read and interpret manuals, schematics, blueprints, and work orders to diagnose issues and execute maintenance activities accurately.
Support the Facilities Director by helping set maintenance priorities and coordinating tasks to meet operational needs.
Follow all safety procedures and best practices while maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
Respond promptly to safety concerns, maintenance requests, and equipment issues to reduce risk and maintain productivity.
Conduct troubleshooting of PLC controls and automation systems as needed to resolve equipment malfunctions.
Perform electrical troubleshooting on 3-phase and 480V systems in accordance with safety standards.
Document maintenance activities and use computer-based systems to track work orders, parts usage, and equipment history.
Essential Skills
High school diploma or GED.
3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
Formal training in electrical or mechanical fields.
Moderate electrical skills with familiarity in PLCs and PLC troubleshooting.
Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including manuals, schematics, blueprints, and work orders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for diagnosing and resolving equipment issues.
Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance in an industrial environment.
Hands-on skills in maintenance repair, including installation, adjustment, and replacement of components.
Capability to work with 3-phase and 480V electrical systems in a safe and compliant manner.
Good communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move equipment or furniture as needed.
Comfort using computers and maintenance software to manage tasks and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Experience in welding, fabrication, and basic carpentry for equipment and facility repairs.
Knowledge of automation and PLC control systems within production environments.
Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, and related components used in industrial machinery.
Experience reading and working from electrical schematics and detailed technical drawings.
Ability to perform general building maintenance, including plumbing and structural repairs.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple work orders and prioritize tasks effectively.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northfield, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
