Principal Government & Defense Technology Architect Client: DHL

Work Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship Position Summary System One IT is seeking a Principal Government & Defense Technology Architect to support DHL's Government & Defense business. This position will serve as a senior technical advisor responsible for technology strategy, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, compliance, and technical governance.
The architect will ensure that enterprise solutions align with business objectives, government regulatory requirements, and operational needs while protecting Controlled Unclassified Information, or CUI. This role requires a combination of enterprise architecture leadership, government cybersecurity and compliance expertise, broad technical architecture experience, and knowledge of logistics and supply chain technology. Key Responsibilities Architecture and Technology Leadership - Define enterprise technology standards, roadmaps, reference architectures, and architecture strategies
Lead solution design and architecture reviews across cloud, infrastructure, networks, applications, data, security, and integrations
Provide technical leadership for modernization programs and other strategic initiatives
Evaluate technical designs for security, scalability, compliance, operational supportability, and alignment with business objectives
Establish architecture governance processes and guide technical priorities across the Government & Defense business Cybersecurity and Compliance - Ensure technology solutions align with applicable NIST, CMMC, DFARS, and CUI protection requirements
Lead technical risk assessments, security architecture reviews, remediation planning, and risk reduction efforts
Serve as a technical authority for environments that store, process, or transmit CUI and other sensitive government information
Translate cybersecurity and compliance requirements into practical architecture standards, technical controls, and implementation plans
Partner with Information Security, IT, business, and compliance stakeholders to evaluate and address technology risk Stakeholder and Vendor Management - Act as a primary technical liaison among DHL Government & Defense, enterprise IT, Information Security, business stakeholders, customers, and technology partners
Present architecture recommendations, technical risks, and remediation strategies to executive and customer audiences
Support technology procurement, vendor evaluations, requests for proposal, and solution selection activities
Evaluate vendor solutions for architecture alignment, cybersecurity, compliance, integration, and operational supportability Logistics and Enterprise Applications - Provide architectural guidance for supply chain and logistics platforms, including Warehouse Management Systems, Transportation Management Systems, enterprise applications, and integration technologies
Support secure and scalable solutions for warehousing, transportation, inventory, fulfillment, shipment visibility, and related logistics operations
Define integration approaches connecting logistics platforms, enterprise applications, cloud environments, data platforms, and external partners
Ensure logistics technologies meet government security, compliance, availability, performance, and operational requirements Decision Making Authority - Approve or recommend architecture standards, technical designs, platforms, and technology approaches
Evaluate technology, cybersecurity, compliance, and operational risks
Establish technical priorities and roadmaps supporting business growth, modernization, and government compliance requirements
Serve as a senior technical representative for Government & Defense technology initiatives Required Qualifications - Significant experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, technology strategy, or a comparable senior technical leadership role
Demonstrated ownership of architecture standards, technical roadmaps, solution reviews, and enterprise technology decisions
Experience applying NIST, CMMC, DFARS, or comparable government cybersecurity requirements to technical environments
Knowledge of architectural and security requirements for protecting Controlled Unclassified Information
Broad architecture experience across cloud, infrastructure, networks, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, data, identity, and integrations
Experience supporting supply chain, transportation, warehousing, distribution, or logistics technology
Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience translating technical and cybersecurity risks for business leaders, executives, customers, and other nontechnical audiences
Experience working with technology vendors and evaluating enterprise solutions Preferred Qualifications - Experience supporting the Department of Defense, a federal agency, a defense contractor, or a Defense Industrial Base organization
Direct architecture experience with Warehouse Management Systems or Transportation Management Systems
Experience designing or governing a CUI enclave
Experience with NIST SP 800 171, CMMC readiness or assessment activities, and DFARS cybersecurity requirements
Experience with Azure Government, AWS GovCloud, Microsoft 365 GCC High, or another regulated government cloud environment
Experience with ERP, API, EDI, middleware, data, and logistics platform integrations
Experience supporting government proposals, procurement activities, vendor selection, or RFP responses
Architecture or cybersecurity certifications such as TOGAF, CISSP, CCSP, CISM, or comparable credentials
Current or previously held government security clearance
