Job Summary and Qualifications
Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
Demonstrates ability to run equipment safely and effectively according to mfg. guidelines
Utilizes supplies and supportive equipment appropriately
Utilizes appropriate cost containment methods when ordering and selecting equipment and supplies
Applies knowledge of radiation safety during daily assignments
Maintains safety precautions with use of radiation
Monitor or circulator on all diagnostic and interventional procedures
Anticipates physician needs
Documents all patient assessments, intervention, and response completely and accurately on approved forms or media
Conducts and/or reviews patient's comprehensive health care assessment and history on admission, analyzes assessment data and formulates appropriate plans in an ongoing and systematic manner
Provides direct patient care, administers medication, starts IV's, controls narcotics, maintains crash cart
Administers and documents IV conscious sedation
Gives timely and complete report to receiving RN on floor after case completed
Proficient in utilization of hemodynamic monitoring equip
Recognizes basic dysrhythmias and common drug reactions
Responds appropriately in a "code" situation
Pulls sheath on physician's order
Utilizes appropriate techniques to promote hemostasis following sheath removal
Assists with ordering, inventory, stocking, cleaning and other departmental operations as needed
Assists with departmental performance improvement activities
Assists with patient transport
Assists with orientation, training and education activities
What qualifications you will need:
Education/Skills:
Associate's degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
Experience
Minimum two years' Critical Care/ER or Cath Lab experience required. Experience with Imaging procedures preferred. Activity and communication with Radiology Nurse Association (ARNA) preferred. Demonstrate ability to support patients and families undergoing imaging studies. Experience with radiation safety. Knowledge of medication administration and contraindications of contrast materials and radiopharmaceuticals preferred.
Licenses, Registrations and/or Certifications:
Registered Nurse License eligible to practice in the State of Texas; Texas State RN license required; current BLS within 30 days and ACLS obtained from approved HCA vendor required within 90 days.
