Summary The INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (EX) serves in the Material Management Division of the Logistics Service at the VA Health Care System, and is responsible for the inventory and lifecycle management of all expendable (EX) equipment at the VA Medical Center in Lancaster, CA. Responsibilities Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Lifecycle Management: Responsible for the lifecycle management of expendable assets; conducts short, mid and long-term advanced planning; analyzes data; supports customers and acquisition personnel in developing requirements, utilizing mandatory sources and standardization sources; and corresponds with procurement officials and other stakeholders to resolve issues Inventory Management and Control: Responsible for the management and control of EX assets; serves as the point of contact for the coordination of material support and resolution of logistic problems; conducts forecasting and quantitative analysis; conducts spot checks; and complies with special requirements for firearms, ammunition and sensitive equipment Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. GS-09 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, public or private sector overseeing inventory management and planning of assets and medical; maintaining records and controls over material in-stock, due-in, or planned for distribution; reviewing and analyzing operational reports and plans, work schedules, planned requirements, and other data to determine and advise on compatibility of planned support programs; developing and supporting the creation of acquisition strategies to acquire and purchase durable medical equipment; implementing federal or agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies; and serving as a point of contact for the coordination of material support to resolve logistics problems and achieve program efficiency. ~OR~ Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience.
