Job Description

Budgeted Pay Range: $83,888 to $94,533 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

This position is hybrid eligible, with a combination of telecommuting and in-office work required.

The Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (https://med.stanford.edu/stemcell) , with over 40 member faculty and approximately 45 graduate students, is devoted to exploring how stem cells are created, the mechanisms by which they are regulated and how they devolve into specialized cells. The ultimate goal is to translate this knowledge into dramatic new medical therapies for some of the world's most serious and intractable afflictions. The institute is the leader in stem cell science and sets the foundation for regenerative medicine, attracting stellar graduate students and medical fellows who advance to positions as top scientists and academic leaders in their field.

We have a Student Services Officer 1 position open for a qualified candidate to provide administrative and operational support to our graduate program. This role supports the Student Services Officer 2, Director of Graduate Studies, faculty and students on issues regarding admission, financial aid, housing, registrar services, visa services, student life, advising, career counseling and academic services. Under the direction of the Student Services Officer 2, you will resolve routine issues of limited scope within your own work area using defined policies and practices and professional knowledge, as well as provide advice to students on a range of issues to guide them in making appropriate choices and decisions.

In order to be successful, you will be unflappable, self-motivated, be able to maintain/demonstrate a positive outlook with a customer-oriented mindset and transparency in process and communication both with students and faculty. It is critical that you exhibit the abilities to practice sound judgment and decision-making, effective written and oral communication, strong attention to detail and respectful relationship management with students and faculty. You will also possess the ability to connect with a diverse student population including socioeconomically and educationally disadvantaged, individuals with disabilities, and under-represented minority backgrounds is critical.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred experience with initiatives, training, participating with committees or direct work with community programs.
