Job Title: Construction Superintendent
Job Description
The Construction Superintendent oversees commercial and industrial construction projects, with a strong focus on design-build warehouse work and some ground-up construction. This role comes from general contractor experience and is responsible for managing on-site activities, coordinating project teams, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with construction documents and client expectations.
Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day on-site construction activities for commercial, warehouse, and industrial projects.
Coordinate and supervise all field operations, including subcontractors, trades, and site personnel.
Manage design-build warehouse projects, ensuring alignment between design intent and construction execution.
Oversee ground-up construction work as needed and switch between design-build and ground-up projects based on project requirements.
Review, interpret, and implement construction documents, plans, and specifications to guide field work.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards, site safety plans, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor project progress, quality of workmanship, and adherence to schedules and milestones.
Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to report on status, resolve issues, and maintain alignment on project goals.
Identify and address field challenges, coordinating solutions with project management and design teams.
Support construction management processes, including planning, sequencing of work, and resource allocation.
Essential Skills
Proven experience working for a general contractor in a superintendent or construction supervision role.
Hands-on experience with design-build construction projects, specifically design-build warehouses.
Experience in commercial construction, warehouse construction, and industrial construction.
Experience with ground-up construction projects, with the ability to move between design-build and ground-up work.
Strong construction management skills, including coordination of field operations and subcontractors.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
Solid understanding of construction safety practices and the ability to enforce safety standards on site.
Effective communication and leadership skills for supervising crews and collaborating with project teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with a variety of commercial and industrial building @types.
Experience in general contractor environments, with exposure to multiple project phases.
Ability to adapt quickly to different project scopes, switching between warehouse design-build and ground-up construction.
Strong organizational skills for managing schedules, site logistics, and documentation.
Work Environment
The role primarily operates on active construction sites, with a mix of on-site and hybrid work as project needs allow. The superintendent works closely with field teams, subcontractors, and project management, using construction documents and standard industry tools to oversee commercial, warehouse, and industrial projects. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, requiring regular presence on site, adherence to safety protocols, and appropriate construction-site attire such as work boots and practical clothing suitable for field conditions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maple Shade, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $60.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
