Medical Assistant - Contract

Location: Bedford, TX

Pay Rate: $24.34/hour

Employment Type: Contract

Contract Dates: September 7, 2026 - December 4, 2026

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Interview: In-person

Dress Code: Navy Blue or Gray scrubs

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to support daily clinical operations in a patient-focused healthcare environment. The Medical Assistant will assist with patient intake and preparation, clinical procedures, specimen collection, diagnostic testing, documentation, equipment maintenance, and coordination of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Room patients and prepare them for examinations and procedures.

Obtain and accurately document patient information in the medical record.

Perform duties within the scope of Medical Assistant practice.

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection and other noninvasive specimen collection.

Perform EKGs and operate diagnostic equipment within established guidelines.

Administer non-intravenous medications as permitted by applicable policies and scope of practice.

Change wound dressings, obtain wound cultures, and remove staples from superficial wounds as directed.

Prepare, clean, and organize examination and treatment rooms.

Sterilize medical equipment using an autoclave .

Perform quality-control checks on clinical equipment.

Follow standard infection-control precautions and established safety procedures.

Conduct telephone and in-person patient intake and screening within the established scope of practice.

Coordinate patient care as directed by physicians and organizational policies.

Follow the Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO) and applicable clinical procedures.

Maintain patient confidentiality and provide professional, courteous customer service.

Stock and maintain examination and treatment rooms.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification , or ability to obtain certification within 180 days of employment.

Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers at time of hire or within 30 days of hire.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Basic computer literacy with intermediate Microsoft Excel skills .

Strong communication and customer-service skills.

Ability to remain calm and effective during emergency situations.

Ability to accurately follow clinical procedures, policies, and physician orders.

Willingness to complete required TB screening and immunization/immunity documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

1+ year of Medical Assistant experience.

Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding .

Phlebotomy experience is highly preferred.

Experience performing EKGs and specimen collection.

Experience with autoclaves, sterilization, and clinical equipment quality control.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a certified Medical Assistant with strong clinical skills, phlebotomy experience, attention to detail, and excellent patient-service skills . The candidate should be comfortable working independently within established protocols while collaborating closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Pay Details: $24.34 to $24.24 per hour
