The Engineering Operations Capability Group s Additive Manufacturing (AM) Center in our Hudson, NH facility is seeking a motivated mechanical technician to support our fastmoving AM team. This is a handson opportunity to work with the latest industrialgrade 3D printersfrom fusedfilament machines to highresolution resin systemsand learn and support the priniting of challenging hardware geometries that traditional manufacturing simply can t achieve.This position you ll support the daytoday flow of the AM Center, helping with everything from partjob scheduling and printer setup, job printing to postprocessing and assembly of program hardware.You ll assist engineers and designers in designing, printing, and finishing novel components that demonstrate new technical concepts, gaining exposure to a wide range of highperformance AM materials and their realworld applications at BAE.Your days will be varied and never dull, blending mechanicalhandson work with technical problemsolving, all under the mentorship of experienced AM engineers.You ll collaborate directly with engineers, programs, and crossfunctional stakeholders, building a solid foundation in additive manufacturing and engineering operations while contributing to projects that push the boundaries of what s possible.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage Production Queues: Work sidebyside with the AMCenter team to track job schedules, prioritize print orders, and keep the production line running smoothly.
Prepare and Verify Build Files: Import, clean, and review 3D model files; set up machine parameters, slice files, and confirm that parts meet design specifications before printing.
Operate and Monitor Printers: Run fusedfilament (FFF) and resinbased printers, perform routine calibrations, and troubleshoot issues in real time to ensure highquality builds.
PostProcess Printed Parts: Execute support removal, part assembly, insert installation, and finishing operations; inspect finished components and package them for delivery to engineering programs.
Interpret Technical Documentation: Read hardware model files and engineering drawings, identify required inserts or fixtures, and assist in installing them on printed parts.
Track Material Inventory: Monitor consumables (filaments, resins, build plates, etc.), log usage in the inventory system, and notify the Materials Manager when stock falls below reorder thresholds.
Coordinate Supplies & Logistics: Gather and stage all necessary tools, postprocessing hardware, and ancillary supplies needed for each print job; ensure workstations remain organized and stocked.
Support Design Iterations: Collaborate with engineers to make minor design adjustments, update CAD files, and reprint proto@types as directed.
Document Work & Report Results: Log build parameters, material usage, and print outcomes in the database spreadsheets; generate brief status reports as needed for program leads and the AMCenter manager.
Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, suggest enhancements to the internal BAE Systems AMCenter portal, and share ideas for better safety, cleanliness, or efficiency.
Maintain a Safe, Clean Workspace: Follow all safety protocols, keep the lab tidy, and adhere to compliance standards for equipment and material handling.
Manage the AMCentres chemical inventories. Order, inspect and disposition. Creation of new part numbers when necessary. Monitor Hazardous Material/Waste Disposition.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Mechanical aptitude comfortable handling tools, fixtures, and able to interpret engineering drawings and model files.
Technical communication clear written and verbal reporting; can document build parameters, material usage, and any results in Excel or other tracking tools.
Team collaboration & independence works effectively both as a solo contributor and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Organization & multitasking Meticulous, manages multiple print jobs, schedules, and supplychain tasks without losing focus on safety or quality.
Software proficiency Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and beneficial if familiar with database use (Access or similar) for inventory and reporting.
Safetyfirst mindset follows lab safety protocols, maintains a clean work environment, and promptly reports hazards or equipment issues.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Handson experience - Building, assembling, or repairing mechanical components (e.g., robotics clubs, shop class, makerspace projects).
Prior exposure /use - 3Dprinting machines (FDM, SLA, DLP or similar) and the associated slicing software (e.g., GrabCAD, Strealine, FixtureMate, Cura, PrusaSlicer, PreForm).
Familiarity - with a CAD packages such as SolidWorks, PTCCreo, Fusion360, or another parametric modeling tool.
Demonstrate - ability to follow written procedures, maintain accurate logs, and track inventory in a workshop or lab setting.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $57319 - $91710
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
