Electrical Technician L1-2, Distribution Engineering Distr Equipment

Required Education/Experience

High School Diploma/GED High School Diploma or GED AND completion of at least two years of coursework in a 4-year Engineering or Electrical Technology Degree program; OR completion of two years of applicable military technical training, including Nuclear Electronics Technician, Nuclear Electrician, Aviation Electronics Technician, or a related program. and Two (2) years of experience performing electrical component testing or troubleshooting using high- and low-voltage test equipment and wiring diagrams. Knowledge of AC and DC electrical theory and circuit analysis.

Knowledge of three-phase electrical power systems.

Working knowledge of mathematics and the ability to perform calculations involving algebra and basic trigonometry.

Knowledge of electrical testing methods, troubleshooting techniques, and interpreting wiring diagrams and schematic drawings. or

Associate's Degree Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology or a related field. and One (1) year of experience performing electrical component testing or troubleshooting using high- and low-voltage test equipment and wiring diagrams. Knowledge of AC and DC electrical theory and circuit analysis.

Preferred Education/Experience

Relevant Work Experience

Less than 2 years Experience testing, troubleshooting, or evaluating electrical distribution equipment. Preferred

Less than 2 years Experience using high-voltage and low-voltage electrical test equipment. Preferred

Less than 2 years Experience developing technical reports, analyzing test data, and supporting equipment reliability initiatives. Preferred

Ability to perform electrical, operational, and diagnostic testing on distribution equipment.

Ability to troubleshoot electrical components and equipment using test instruments and technical documentation.

Ability to review and interpret technical specifications, electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation.

Ability to prepare technical reports, maintain records, and document test findings accurately.

Proficiency with computer applications, spreadsheets, and automated testing systems.

Ability to travel to field locations and work in shop and field environments.

Physical Demands

Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold

Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs

Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations

Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)

Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems

Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations

Ability to climb in and out of manholes and excavations

Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday

Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses

Work with equipment with a manufacturer weight rating of 350lbs

Use equipment with a maximum weight rating of 375lbs when wearing and/or carrying 25lbs of clothing and equipment

Additional Physical Demands

The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Must be able to work in field environments, including underground vaults, confined spaces, and adverse weather conditions.

Must be able to wear the required personal protective equipment and respirators in accordance with OSHA and Company requirements.

Must be able to safely work on and around high-voltage electrical equipment and energized systems.
