About the Role
As an intern on the Project Management team, you'll play an active role in supporting initiatives that help HD Supply deliver projects efficiently and effectively across the business. HD Supply serves a broad range of professional customers, and successful project execution is critical to driving operational excellence, improving processes, and supporting strategic priorities.
In this role, you'll collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to help coordinate project activities, monitor progress, and support key deliverables. You'll gain exposure to project planning, stakeholder communication, process improvement, and business operations while learning how projects are managed within a large organization.
This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where you'll develop foundational project management skills, strengthen your organizational and communication abilities, and gain insight into how teams work together to achieve business goals.
Key Responsibilities
Assist project managers with planning, coordinating, and tracking project activities
Support project documentation, meeting agendas, action items, and status updates
Monitor project timelines and help ensure deliverables are completed on schedule
Participate in cross-functional meetings and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization
Conduct research and analysis to support project recommendations and business decisions
Help identify process improvement opportunities and operational efficiencies
Assist in preparing presentations, reports, dashboards, and project communications
Track project metrics and summarize key insights for stakeholders
Support change management and implementation activities associated with project initiatives
Perform administrative and organizational tasks that contribute to successful project execution
Required Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Coursework in Project Management, Business Operations, Organizational Leadership, Business Communications, or Process Improvement
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to project management methodologies through coursework, student organizations, certifications, or prior internship experience
Familiarity with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Asana, Trello, Jira, or similar platforms
Experience supporting project planning, event coordination, process improvement, or business operations initiatives
Knowledge of project management concepts such as scope, risk management, stakeholder management, and project scheduling
Coursework in Project Management, Business Operations, Organizational Leadership, Business Communications, or Process Improvement
Coursework in Project Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or Lean/Six Sigma principles
Demonstrated leadership experience through campus organizations, volunteer activities, or team-based projects
Job Summary

Prepares and delivers insights and recommendations based on analyses.

Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility.
May assist in research or special projects in a variety of areas in order to fulfill business initiatives and meet business objectives.
Nature and Scope
Works in compliance with established procedures and/or protocols. Identifies and resolves readily identifiable, clearly defined problems. Demonstrates skill in data analysis and techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in routine research/data.
Nature of work requires general supervision; exercises judgment. May be paired with a mentor. Work typically involves regular process checks or review of output by a coworker and/or supervisor.
May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support personnel.
Work Environment
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Certification may be required in some areas. Generally 0-2 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 0-1 year of experience in a related field.
