Responsibilities Performs random reviews of disbursements for assigned programs with Travel Pay as the primary focus. Organizes, collects, analyzes and presents a variety of data, information, and statistics related to financial programs and projects based on reviews of the Travel Pay program. Analyzes and evaluates financial management systems, public laws, governing policies, guidelines, rules, regulations, and precedents related to the Travel Pay program. Identifies trends and works with office management to develop proper corrective actions related to the Travel Pay program. Researches and identifies problems, determines corrective actions as needed and recommends changes to procedures and practices related to the Travel Pay program. The duties, described above, represent the major duties performed at the GS-9 level. The duties performed for developmental positions will be of limited scope and complexity to develop skills, proficiency, and work experience. One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. To be hired at the GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-05 if applying at the GS-07 level) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience at the GS-07 level is defined as: Applying financial laws, regulations, principles, systems, policies, methods, and practices to perform reviews of disbursements for Travel Pay. Providing routine technical guidance to managers, employees and/or customers; gathering data from financial systems; and researching financial policies and laws to resolve common financial issues related to Travel Pay. To be hired at the GS-09 grade level, applicants must minimally have: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07 if applying at the GS-09 level) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience at the GS-09 level is defined as: Applying financial laws, regulations, policies and procedures to perform random reviews of disbursements for Travel Pay, to provide technical guidance to managers, employees and/or customers and resolve common financial issues related to Travel Pay. Organizes, collects, analyzes and presents a variety of data, information, and statistics related to financial programs and projects based on reviews of assigned program accounts. This position will be covered by formal training under the DFAS Career Acclimation Program (DCAP). The purpose of this program is to develop well-qualified, well-trained, high potential employees for future positions within DFAS. Promotion is conditional based on performance, successful completion of training, and availability of higher graded work. Participants who do not successfully complete the program may be separated.
