Job Title: Construction Superintendent
Job Description
The Construction Superintendent leads day-to-day field operations for commercial construction projects, ensuring all work is executed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards. This role oversees subcontractors, vendors, and site personnel while coordinating inspections, meetings, and project documentation. The superintendent plays a key role in maintaining a professional, collaborative job site and fostering strong relationships with project stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Lead daily field operations for commercial construction projects and provide on-site supervision of all activities.
Oversee and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and site personnel to ensure efficient and safe execution of work.
Maintain and manage overall project schedules, including developing and updating short-term look-ahead schedules.
Conduct regular coordination meetings to align subcontractors and stakeholders with project milestones and sequencing.
Ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
Conduct daily site walks to monitor progress, identify issues, and verify adherence to safety and quality standards.
Maintain thorough project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, and relevant field records.
Coordinate and schedule all required inspections and pre-installation meetings with appropriate parties.
Lead safety orientations and reinforce safety protocols for all site personnel and subcontractors.
Proactively identify and resolve project issues related to schedule, cost, quality, and safety before they escalate.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times, ensuring proper housekeeping and site logistics.
Collaborate closely with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and local officials to support project success.
Communicate project updates, risks, and changes clearly and consistently to all stakeholders.
Promote a collaborative, professional, and solution-oriented environment among the project team.
Utilize construction management software and scheduling tools to track progress, manage tasks, and report status.
Essential Skills
5-10+ years of experience working as a Superintendent managing commercial construction projects.
Strong background in construction management with emphasis on commercial construction.
Demonstrated experience with project scheduling and maintaining construction schedules.
Proficiency with Microsoft Project or similar construction scheduling software.
Knowledge of construction means and methods, site logistics, and field coordination.
Strong understanding of safety regulations and practices on commercial construction sites.
Experience with quality control processes and ensuring compliance with plans and specifications.
Current OSHA 30 certification.
Current Construction Supervisor License (CSL) or ability to obtain as required.
Proficiency with construction management software, with Procore preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for reporting, documentation, and communication.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and motivate field teams and subcontractors.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with owners, architects, engineers, and local officials.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities on an active job site.
Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively address field issues related to schedule, cost, quality, and safety.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with general contractors on complex commercial, institutional, or multi-family projects.
Familiarity with construction supervision best practices and field management techniques.
Experience working on large-scale or multi-phase commercial construction projects.
Ability to foster positive relationships with project stakeholders and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
Comfort using digital tools for documentation, progress photos, and daily reporting.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe, organized, and professional job site.
Work Environment
This role is fully site-based and requires presence at the project location five days per week. The superintendent is responsible for complete supervision, field management, safety, and execution of a commercial construction project. The work environment is a dynamic construction site, involving active coordination of trades, site logistics, inspections, and safety oversight. The position operates within a culture that emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and high-quality delivery of state-of-the-art commercial, institutional, and urban multi-family communities. The role involves frequent on-foot movement across the job site, regular site walks, and interaction with multiple stakeholders throughout the day, supported by construction management software and standard office productivity tools.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Needham, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $73.00/hr.
