Job Title: Senior Electrical Project Manager
Job Description
The Senior Electrical Project Manager oversees a portfolio of complex electrical construction projects across multiple sectors, ensuring that each initiative aligns with organizational objectives and delivers strong operational and financial results. This role provides strategic direction, manages the full project lifecycle, and leads cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of complex electrical construction projects across multiple sectors that may span one or more lines of business.
Provide on-site leadership for project teams by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, fulfill their responsibilities, and achieve project milestones.
Oversee all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and organizational goals.
Report on project success criteria, including results, metrics, testing, and deployment management activities.
Demonstrate strong knowledge of construction cost-to-complete and project financial projections to support accurate budgeting and forecasting.
Accurately project project costs by phase code, including materials and remaining labor hours.
Identify scope creep to mitigate risk, assemble documentation on design errors and project change orders, and communicate these issues to the project team.
Effectively present and secure approval for project change orders to improve project margins.
Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment, demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
Participate in establishing and refining practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships that expand and mature project management capabilities.
Prepare detailed estimates and comprehensive project plans for all phases of each project.
Coordinate with general superintendents and forepersons to review revised project labor hours and set expectations and durations for completion within defined targets.
Procure adequate resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to achieve project objectives within planned timeframes.
Manage day-to-day project activities and resources, and communicate additional requirements and impacts to Senior construction leadership.
Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and complete performance reviews to support professional development and accountability.
Provide regular status reports on project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues to leadership and key stakeholders.
Follow detailed processes for project execution while partnering with leadership to continually analyze and improve process adherence.
Apply functional and technical knowledge to ensure that solutions meet client goals while maintaining compliance with applicable codes and standards, including NEC requirements.
Act as an internal quality control check for projects, ensuring adherence to specifications and standards.
Manage ongoing quality control activities and participate in resolving quality issues as they arise.
Assist in dispute resolution, negotiation, arbitration, or litigation when needed to protect project and organizational interests.
Support the development and management of formal and informal schedules to effectively administer engagement contracts.
Understand project installation specifications and ensure the project team fully comprehends and follows these requirements.
Develop and manage all aspects of projects from planning through completion, including external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budgets, changes, risks, and issues.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel, ensuring clarity of expectations and accountability.
Monitor, track, and control project outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables.
Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project and program team members to build high-performing teams.
Deliver clear, effective executive-level communication regarding project status, risks, and recommendations.
Ensure that projects and programs proceed according to defined scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
Conduct research into project-related issues, products, and technologies to support informed decision-making.
Learn, understand, and apply new technologies and software tools relevant to electrical construction and project management.
Support a diverse and inclusive work environment through collaborative and respectful team interactions.
Lead electrical construction projects in commercial, healthcare, and multifamily environments ranging from small-scale efforts to large projects up to approximately $16M.
Manage key project management processes including change orders, budgeting, scheduling, RFIs, submittals, take-offs, and buyouts.
Use project management and construction software such as MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project Sight, Procore, BlueBeam, and Accubid to plan, track, and report on projects.
Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders, stakeholders, vendors, and subcontractors to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus, and achieve objectives.
Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes when necessary.
Lead projects and programs to successful completion, delivering on-time, on-schedule, and within budget results.
Influence and gain buy-in from executives, team members, stakeholders, and peers to support project decisions and priorities.
Foster team-building across technical and non-technical staff, promoting a collaborative and supportive project environment.
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Ensure electrical installations, wiring, low-voltage systems, conduits, and circuits meet quality, safety, and code requirements.
Support project coordination and scheduling activities to keep all stakeholders aligned and informed.
Essential Skills
Extensive experience in the electrical construction industry, with 7-10 years of project management experience preferred; candidates with 4-5 years or more Senior experience (10-20 years) will be considered.
At least 5 years of experience managing the full product or project lifecycle, with a solid understanding of development lifecycle and technology methodologies that support that lifecycle.
Strong project management skills with a proven track record of leading complex projects and programs to on-time, on-schedule, and within-budget completion.
Hands-on experience in electrical construction, including installation, wiring, low-voltage systems, conduits, and quality control.
Deep familiarity with electrical codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Ability to prepare and interpret estimates, budgets, schedules, RFIs, submittals, take-offs, buyouts, and change orders.
Proficiency with project management and construction software tools such as MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project Sight, Procore, BlueBeam, and Accubid.
Experience negotiating with vendors and subcontractors to support project delivery and cost control.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead across organizational levels, motivate teams, and hold team members accountable for performance.
Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, presentation, and executive-level reporting, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff at all levels.
Demonstrated ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment, showing teamwork, innovation, and excellence.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Journeyperson or master electrical license maintained and in good standing; E1 or E2 electrical license strongly preferred but not mandatory.
Experience in commercial, healthcare, and multifamily project @types.
Experience managing projects ranging from small-scale efforts to large projects up to approximately $16M.
Experience with Project Sight, Procore, BlueBeam, Accubid, and other construction-related software.
Background in construction management and electrical construction project coordination.
Familiarity with bidding processes and buyouts for electrical construction projects.
Experience supporting and promoting a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Comfort working in both office and field settings, including occasional visits to job sites in Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford, and Litchfield counties.
Potential eligibility for a sign-on bonus, subject to organizational policies and individual qualifications.
Interest in stepping up from a field or supervisory role into a project management position, with readiness to take on broader responsibilities.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $145000.00 - $175000.00/hr.
