Maintenance Technician - 1st shift
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician assembles, installs, and maintains machinery and mechanical systems in a high-volume stamping and punch press manufacturing environment. This role interprets blueprints and schematics, uses hand and power tools, and ensures machines are built and maintained to precise specifications. The position focuses heavily on maintenance of stamping presses, troubleshooting 480V electrical systems, and working with hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems to keep production equipment operating safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Assemble and construct machine components according to specifications, blueprints, and schematics.
Perform maintenance on 40-400 ton stamping press machines across approximately 40 presses in the facility.
Troubleshoot and repair 480V electrical systems on production and support equipment.
Integrate control systems and pneumatic components into machines to support automated and semi-automated operations.
Use hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and industrial equipment to complete mechanical and electrical tasks accurately.
Perform machining tasks as needed to support repairs and component fabrication, ensuring precision and accuracy.
Operate forklifts safely to transport materials, parts, and equipment around the worksite.
Conduct regular inspections of equipment, tools, and systems to verify proper operation and identify emerging issues.
Identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues during assembly, commissioning, or after machines are in service.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex issues and implement effective, long-term solutions.
Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, consistently following safety protocols and procedures.
Perform basic facilities maintenance as needed, coordinating with subcontractors for HVAC, crane, and roof maintenance when required.
Serve as the primary onsite maintenance resource, independently handling machine repairs and general maintenance needs.
Essential Skills
At least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience working on stamping presses.
Proven experience with mechanical troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic systems.
Proven experience with mechanical troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic systems.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair 480V electrical systems safely and effectively.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
Hands-on experience with stamping press maintenance in an industrial environment.
Strong skills in preventive maintenance and maintenance repair for industrial equipment.
Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics in a production setting.
Ability to use hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and industrial equipment with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to safely operate forklifts in a manufacturing environment.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues independently.
Ability to work as the sole onsite maintenance professional, managing priorities and responding to urgent needs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience as an industrial or maintenance electrician.
Experience with overhead crane maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
Familiarity with control system integration in automated or semi-automated machinery.
Comfort working from blueprints and schematics to support machine builds, rebuilds, and modifications.
Experience in a steel manufacturing, stamping, or punch press environment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with machinists, production operators, and tooling personnel.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability and safety.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Twinsburg, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
