Accounting Manager

Description

A well-established organization is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee day to day accounting operations, financial reporting, and technical accounting activities. This role will lead a small team, partner with leadership across the business, and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial reporting while supporting strategic initiatives and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by accounting staff.

Lead technical accounting research and implementation for new transactions, accounting standards, and business initiatives.

Oversee balance sheet integrity and ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.

Coordinate internal and external audit activities, including preparation of supporting documentation and responses to inquiries.

Monitor and strengthen internal controls, identifying opportunities to improve processes and reduce risk.

Partner with operational and executive leadership to provide financial insight and support decision making.

Mentor and develop accounting team members while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

Support system implementations, reporting enhancements, and other cross functional projects.

Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

Experience researching and documenting technical accounting matters.

Proven ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Advanced Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems.

CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

Preferred Experience

Experience within a highly regulated environment.

Strong background in financial reporting, internal controls, and audit coordination.

Exposure to regulatory compliance and complex accounting transactions.

Experience driving process improvements and leading accounting teams through change.
