Job Title: Warehouse Worker Job Description
This role supports a busy steel manufacturing and fabrication facility by performing general warehouse duties, material handling, and assisting with production operations. You will work in a hands-on environment moving materials, supporting machine operators, and helping to keep the warehouse organized, safe, and efficient. Candidates with sit-down forklift or fabrication machine operating experience are encouraged to apply, and on-the-job training is available.
Responsibilities
Handle and move materials safely throughout the warehouse and production areas using appropriate equipment and methods.
Support daily warehouse operations, including loading, unloading, staging, and organizing steel and other materials.
Assist with operating or supporting fabrication equipment such as lasers and cut-to-length (CTL) lines under guidance from experienced operators.
Work as a general warehouse helper in various areas, including CTL, sheet bay, and other production support zones as assigned.
Follow work orders, instructions, and production schedules to ensure materials are available where and when needed.
Use or learn to use sit-down forklifts to move materials and products once trained and authorized.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area by following housekeeping practices and removing debris and obstructions.
Inspect materials for obvious defects or damage and report issues to supervisors or leads.
Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly to coordinate material flow and prioritize tasks.
Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
Support multiple shifts and work areas as needed to meet production and warehouse demands.
Demonstrate reliability by consistently working scheduled shifts and being prepared for physically active, industrial work.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of warehouse experience.
Experience with general material handling in an industrial or warehouse environment.
Ability to work safely in a steel manufacturing, fabrication, or metal fabrication shop environment.
Capability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
Basic familiarity with warehouse operations, including organizing, staging, and moving materials.
Willingness to follow safety procedures and guidelines in a non-climate-controlled facility.
Ability to work assigned shifts, including first and second shifts, Monday through Friday or Monday through Thursday depending on role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Any sit-down forklift experience is a strong plus and will support faster training and advancement.
Prior experience in a metal fabrication shop or steel manufacturing environment.
Exposure to machine operating, such as laser operators or fabrication equipment, is beneficial.
Experience as a general warehouse helper in CTL (cut-to-length) or sheet bay operations.
Comfort working with industrial equipment and around heavy materials.
Flexibility to work different shifts, including 1st shift (approximately 5:30am - 2:00pm) and 2nd shift (approximately 1:30pm - 10:00pm or 3:00pm - 11:30pm), as needed.
Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability in a smaller team environment.

Work Environment
The position is based in a non-climate-controlled steel manufacturing and fabrication facility with active warehouse and production areas. You will work around heavy materials, fabrication machinery, and forklifts in a fast-paced industrial setting. Multiple locations and shifts are available, including roles at a Kansas City, KS facility with first shift (approximately 5:30am - 2:00pm, Monday-Friday) and second shift (approximately 1:30pm - 10:00pm, Monday-Friday), as well as a Kansas City, MO facility with CTL helper/general warehouse shifts (approximately 11:30am - 9:00pm, Monday-Thursday, 4x10s) and sheet bay helper/general warehouse shifts (approximately 6:00am - 2:30pm, Monday-Friday and 3:00pm - 11:30pm). The environment requires appropriate industrial work attire and personal protective equipment suitable for a metal fabrication shop, with an emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
