Taunton State Hospital is seeking qualified applicants for an Environmental Service Specialist I. The selected candidate will be responsible for servicing hospital areas to ensure the safety, health, and morale of patients, visitors, and employees by providing a clean attractive environment with minimal interference to others. Please Note: The incumbent will work 40 hours per week on the first shift from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Days off are Sunday and Monday. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): Cleans floors daily by dry mopping and washing using appropriate supplies and equipment to maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the areas. Washes, cleans, and otherwise sanitizes patient bathing and living areas daily to maintain a clean, sanitary area. General public areas and offices that are used are washed and sanitized on a daily basis using appropriate supplies and equipment. Checks soap and shower dispensers. If needed, remove empty containers and replace with full dispensers. Done on an as needed basis. Washes walls, windows (inside), in offices, rest rooms and corridors. They are washed and sanitized with appropriate housekeeping supplies to ensure a clean, healthy, and sanitized environment for the general work area as needed. Attends mandatory classes as required by Staff Development. Strips wax off floors with stripper, rinse, then apply wax and sealer when needed. Moves and set up furniture to prepare room for meetings and ward areas, bedrooms, TV rooms, etc., on an as needed basis. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the age related and cultural needs of the persons served. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Ability to follow Environmental Service Department policies. Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, i.e. floor water buckets, etc. Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. Preferred Qualifications: Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency. About Taunton State Hospital: Taunton State Hospital (TSH) operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) is a 62-bed inpatient facility that provides continuing care inpatient services to adults with major mental illnesses. The hospital is a leader in the successful integration of the Principles of Recovery and a rehabilitation philosophy into the treatment model and a part of the Southeast Area which works closely with the inpatient treatment teams to facilitate patients' discharge back to the community.
