Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a FIRE CHIEF, Position Description Number T6317000 and is part of the PA 193rd Special Operations Wing, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement. Responsibilities As a Fire Chief, GS-0081-11, you will plans, organize, and oversee the activities of the Fire Protection Flight. Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Represent the Fire Protection Flight with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Assume full charge at crashes, fire, or emergency situations, directing activities and personnel, transmitting instructions to Assistant Chiefs on the scene or other personnel as to the procedures to be followed. Determine need, budgets for, and recommends acquisition of additional and/or different fire protection, firefighting, and specialized rescue equipment, contract services, formal training, etc. Perform other duties as assigned. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or military service that demonstrated the ability to follow directions and to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures and that otherwise demonstrates the ability to perform or learn to perform the duties of the position SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate at least 1 year equivalent to at least the next lower grade? Experience in directing, coordinating, and overseeing work through subordinate supervisors, Determining routes to travel to scenes of emergencies, makes final determination of area to be cleared, and instructs guards of such areas so that they may be cleared until all personnel are rescued and/or area is declared safe, initiating a fire report or aircraft crash fire and rescue report at completion of fire or crash QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
