We are partnering with a growing organization in the Central Houston area seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to support a busy accounting department. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys owning the receivables process, solving billing issues, managing customer relationships, and driving collections while maintaining exceptional accuracy.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute immediately while positioning yourself for long-term growth through a contract-to-hire pathway.

Key Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle accounts receivable activities for a diverse customer base

Generate and distribute customer invoices accurately and timely

Apply customer payments via ACH, wire transfers, lockbox, and checks

Research and resolve unapplied cash and payment discrepancies

Monitor aging reports and proactively manage collections efforts

Follow up on past-due accounts and negotiate payment resolutions

Reconcile customer accounts and maintain accurate account records

Investigate and resolve billing disputes, deductions, short pays, and credit memos

Work closely with customers, sales teams, and operations to address account concerns

Prepare AR aging and collections reports for management review

Support month-end close activities related to receivables

Maintain detailed documentation and audit-ready records

Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives

Requirements

3+ years of Accounts Receivable experience

Experience with B2B collections and cash applications

Strong understanding of invoicing, aging reports, credit memos, and account reconciliations

Experience managing a high-volume portfolio of customer accounts

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Experience utilizing ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics 365, JD Edwards, or similar platforms

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities

Ability to work independently and prioritize competing deadlines

Preferred Experience

High-volume transaction processing

Construction, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, healthcare, or energy industry experience

Experience handling deductions, chargebacks, and dispute resolution

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
