Job Title: Industrial Mechanic
Job Description
This role involves performing a wide range of industrial and commercial mechanical maintenance tasks, including breakdown repair, equipment installation, and system troubleshooting. You will work with industrial machinery, conveyor systems, and fluid power systems while helping to build and support structures that move watercraft in and out of the water. The position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience with industrial equipment, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a modern facility.
Responsibilities
Perform breakdown maintenance on industrial and commercial equipment by diagnosing issues, disassembling components, and completing timely repairs.
Install, repair, replace, and maintain industrial maintenance equipment and machinery, ensuring proper alignment, calibration, and functionality.
Tear down, stage, set up, assemble, and disassemble machinery and equipment as needed for maintenance, upgrades, or new installations.
Assist with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of conveyor systems to support efficient material handling operations.
Work with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including installing, repairing, and maintaining hoses, valves, cylinders, and related components.
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings to guide equipment installation, assembly, and repair activities.
Support the construction and maintenance of structures designed to house watercraft and enable safe movement of vehicles in and out of the water.
Perform basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting to identify faults and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Use appropriate tools, terminators, and test equipment to complete mechanical and electrical tasks safely and accurately.
Follow established safety procedures and best practices while working with industrial equipment, electrical systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and trades to complete projects efficiently and minimize equipment downtime.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure proper staging of parts, tools, and equipment for upcoming tasks.
Essential Skills
Industrial or commercial mechanical experience with hands-on experience in maintenance and repair.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform breakdown, repair, replacement, and installation of industrial maintenance equipment and machinery.
Experience working with hydraulic systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Experience working with pneumatic systems, including assembly, repair, and maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Mechanical maintenance technician experience in an industrial environment.
Basic electrical skills applicable to industrial maintenance and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and industrial maintenance equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and fluid power issues methodically and safely.
Capability to perform assembly and disassembly of machinery, including teardown and setup for maintenance or installation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in industrial, mechanical, and electrical work.
Experience as an industrial mechanic or maintenance technician in a large facility.
Familiarity with conveyor systems and their maintenance requirements.
Experience working in environments that support marine or watercraft-related structures is a plus.
Comfort working in a fast-paced setting with frequent overtime.
Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary maintenance and construction team.

Work Environment
Work takes place indoors in a large, brand-new, clean industrial facility. The schedule typically runs from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with most Saturdays available for additional overtime. You will work around industrial machinery, conveyor systems, and fluid power equipment in a structured, safety-focused environment where modern tools and equipment support efficient maintenance and construction activities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hampton, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
