Summary The Lead Transportation Assistant - of Veteran Transportation Services (VTS) and Beneficiary Travel will Collaborate with Chief, VTS for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation. They serve as the primary liaison between administrative and clinical staff members in this Section. Responsibilities Major Duties include, but are not limited to: Resolving internal procedures requested by clinical staff members. Assuring compliance with all procedural policies and directives related to assignments in this section. Accountable for operations of functions within the units and subsequent changes thereof. Assists in congressional inquiries, investigating the impact of new directives, guidelines and Memorandums and suggesting processes that need to be implemented or changed to assure compliance. Responsible for ensuring accurate collection of statistics from the unit for workload reports. Reviewing and validating beneficiary travel data, recognize and report discrepancies, volume trends, and patterns to the Chief, VTS to assist management of workflow and operations. Ensure work assignments are carried out effectively by distributing and balancing workloads among employees in accordance with established workflow and rotation schedules. Ensures timely accomplishment of assigned work, verifies each employee has sufficient work to remain productive, and monitors the status and progress of work while making day-to-day adjustments based on established priorities. Provides on-the-job training to new employees. Instructs employees on changes in work procedures, provides written documentation of changes, maintains current knowledge of applicable procedures, policies, directives, and related guidance. Distribute and balance workload among employees in accordance with established workflow and rotation schedule, maintain information knowledge base to provide employee answers and obtain information for leadership decisions, competent interpretations of directives, regulations, and assist with staff members with creative problem-solving pertaining to a Travel and Transportation Program, provide suggestions and feedback concerning reassignments, training needs, recognitions, and personnel needs. Managing and organizing transportation vehicles or managing larger processes. Previous experience with Program Management, Resource Management, or Fleet Management. Familiar with government operations and basic forms. Knowledge of the activities and operations of a medical center or similar corporate organization to independently determine proper allocation of fleet center resources. Contracting experience. Preferred Experience: Knowledge of transportation related eligibility. Experience providing consults.
