Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining and repairing industrial machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient production operations. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of systems, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and document work performed in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Ensure the reliable operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by performing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
Follow diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications to perform maintenance and repair tasks accurately and safely.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical malfunctions on industrial equipment and identify root causes to minimize downtime.
Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools, and inspect parts for wear, damage, and defects.
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges to restore proper operation.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, including inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and part replacements, in line with established schedules.
Document all maintenance activities and equipment issues clearly and accurately on work orders and in mechanical maintenance reports.
Collect, analyze, and summarize maintenance information and trends to support continuous improvement of equipment reliability.
Work on gearboxes, pumps, and three-phase motors, including installation, alignment, repair, and replacement as needed.
Support troubleshooting and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure consistent machine performance.
Assist with PLC troubleshooting as needed to identify and resolve control-related issues on production equipment.
Apply proper lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance activities to ensure a safe working environment.
Collaborate with other maintenance technicians, electricians, and production staff to coordinate repairs and minimize production interruptions.
Essential Skills
At least 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
Proficiency in basic mechanical troubleshooting on industrial equipment.
Hands-on experience working with gearboxes, pumps, and three-phase motors.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance on a variety of industrial machines and systems.
Experience with hydraulics and pneumatic systems in an industrial setting.
Ability to read and follow diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications.
Skill in using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
Knowledge and practical use of lockout/tagout procedures.
Experience as a maintenance mechanic or maintenance technician in an industrial environment.
Basic PLC troubleshooting skills to assist with diagnosing control system issues.
Familiarity with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and industrial electrical components such as relays and motors.
Ability to prepare clear mechanical maintenance reports and accurately complete work orders.
Troubleshooting skills for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical-related issues on production equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience as an industrial electrician or exposure to industrial electrical systems is beneficial.
Ability to weld, particularly on stainless steel, is a significant plus.
Experience with welding in an industrial maintenance @context.
Familiarity with gearbox maintenance, repair, and alignment practices.
Comfort working with PLC-controlled equipment and assisting with PLC troubleshooting.
Understanding of three-phase power systems and motor controls.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety procedures, including lockout/tagout.
Willingness to obtain additional certifications, which can support career growth and pay progression.

Work Environment
This position is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility, where some areas can become very hot due to the operation of machinery. You will work around industrial equipment such as conveyor systems, motors, pumps, and production machines, using tools including hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools. The role follows a first-shift schedule on weekdays. Uniforms are provided, and radios are supplied to support communication across the facility. Electrical technicians are provided with laptops to assist with diagnostics and troubleshooting. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, requiring adherence to safety procedures and comfort working in a production setting with varying temperatures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ocala, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
