Job Title: Order Fulfillment Specialist / Customer Service Representative
Job Description
This role combines order fulfillment and customer service responsibilities for an architectural design materials distributor in a warehouse environment. You will support customers in the building materials and interior design space, with a focus on laminates, veneers, and millwork fabrication, while coordinating closely with sales and shipping teams to ensure accurate and timely order processing.
Responsibilities
Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, providing courteous and professional support by phone and email.
Enter customer orders accurately into order entry and ERP systems, ensuring all product, quantity, pricing, and shipping details are correct.
Process orders from start to finish, including verification, data entry, and coordination with warehouse and shipping teams.
Provide product information and guidance to customers in the architectural design materials industry, including laminates, veneers, and millwork-related products.
Collaborate closely with sales and shipping teams to coordinate sample fulfillment and outgoing shipments.
Monitor order status and proactively communicate updates, changes, or delays to customers and internal stakeholders.
Prioritize and manage multiple orders and customer requests in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Use computers and order entry software to perform data entry and maintain accurate records of customer interactions and order history.
Assist with general customer service tasks, including resolving order-related issues and helping ensure a positive customer experience.
Support warehouse operations as needed to ensure smooth order fulfillment within a small distributor environment.
Essential Skills
Proven customer service experience in a professional environment.
Experience working in a warehouse environment.
Strong people skills with the ability to build rapport and communicate clearly with customers and internal teams.
Excellent phone communication skills, including active listening and clear, professional speaking.
Computer proficiency, including the ability to quickly learn and use order entry and data processing systems.
High level of attention to detail to ensure accurate data entry and order processing.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Comfort working with building materials and interior design products, or willingness to learn this industry.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in the building materials and interior design industry, especially with laminates, veneers, and millwork fabrication, is highly desirable.
Familiarity with order entry software and ERP systems is a plus.
Experience with ERP platforms such as Sage 50 is beneficial but not required.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wheeling, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
