The Water Truck Driver operates a water tank truck to control dust and moisten soil on active construction and grading sites. This role keeps the site compliant with dust-control requirements while supporting compaction and earthwork crews. The driver is responsible for filling, hauling, and applying water safely around heavy equipment and ground personnel, along with basic daily maintenance of the truck. Work is outdoors in heat and dusty conditions, with early start times and occasional weekend or extended shifts based on project schedules.

Pay Rate:

The pay rate for this job is $25 - $25 / hour*

What you'll be doing as a Water Truck Driver:

Operate a water truck (typically 2,000-4,000 gallons) to apply water across haul roads, pads, stockpiles, and work areas for dust suppression and soil moisture conditioning

Fill the tank from approved hydrants, wells, or on-site water sources; monitor levels and coordinate refills to avoid downtime for grading and compaction crews

Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections - fluids, tires, brakes, lights, spray bars, pumps, and valves - and report defects or needed repairs promptly

Maneuver safely around heavy equipment, spotters, and ground crews, following all site traffic patterns, flagger direction, and PPE requirements

Maintain driver logs, water usage records, and dust-control documentation as required by the site superintendent and local air quality regulations

Assist with general laborer duties during downtime as directed

Job requirements:

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment with PeopleReady

Valid Class B CDL (Class A acceptable) with a clean driving record and current DOT medical card; tanker endorsement preferred

Prior experience operating a water truck or similar heavy vehicle on an active construction or grading site

Working knowledge of jobsite safety practices and dust-control requirements (Maricopa County / ADEQ dust control experience a plus)

Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, lift up to 50 lbs., climb in and out of the cab repeatedly, and stand or walk for extended periods

OSHA 10 certification preferred; must pass drug screen

Reliable transportation and availability for early morning starts, overtime, and occasional weekends

Background check and Drug test required
