Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing construction company in Nashville. This is a part-time contract opportunity working approximately 28 hours per week onsite, ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and partnering directly with operations leadership.

The Senior Accountant will oversee general ledger activities, month-end close, financial reporting, and construction-related accounting functions while helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Responsibilities

Manage month-end and year-end close activities

Prepare and analyze financial statements and supporting schedules

Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies

Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial records

Assist with job cost accounting and project-related financial reporting

Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activities as needed

Review revenue and expense recognition for construction projects

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis

Coordinate with external CPA firms during audits and tax preparation

Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen accounting controls and efficiency

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

5+ years of progressive accounting experience

Construction, contracting, or project-based accounting experience preferred

Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes

Experience with ERP or accounting software systems (Keystone would be great)

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a small-company environment

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
