Overview

??????The Public Health Program Manager I - Communications, manages and oversees public health information and communication systems and resources and assists with identifying and providing public health training within the Division of Local Health. The main duties include developing and implementing communication plans, acting as an advisor and supporting district office and public health program projects, elevating examples of Local Health\'s contributions to public health in Vermont, developing and/or editing communication products, maintaining division webpages and social media accounts, coordinating the work of division web and social media editors, and promoting and integrating health equity and accessibility strategies into communication efforts. The Public Health Program Manager I will also assist with developing and training a diverse public health workforce in communications and public health practice, among other responsibilities. Examples of work include:

Consulting with staff to identify how and when to utilize communications strategies to support or enhance public health practices

Maintaining division\'s Microsoft SharePoint sites and Teams and related content libraries

Maintaining division webpages and creating a web communication plan

Developing and disseminating division news (internal and external), ensuring information positively represents who we are and what we do

Designing, writing, and/or editing reports, publications, presentations, data briefs, factsheets, flyers, and more

Contributing to strategic planning, priority setting, and emerging issues, including assessing communication or other gaps in programming or service provision through best practice public health strategies

Leading communication activities related to improving health equity, including overseeing interpretation and translation processes

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in both a standard office and field settings. Private means of transportation must be available for required travel. Stress may be anticipated in dealing with emotional situations involving application of programs, especially in dealing with families and in the allocation of program resources.
