Job Title: Accounting Manager
Job Description
The Accounting Manager oversees revenue accounting activities and general ledger reconciliations in a fast-paced environment, working under the direction of the Accounting Director. This role manages project revenue and billing schedules, records fixed price revenue projects, maintains the month-end close task list, and serves as a key resource for project teams on revenue recognition and invoicing. The Accounting Manager also assists in training and managing junior staff, ensuring accurate financial reporting and continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities
Perform routine accounting duties while adhering to established standards and departmental procedures.
Serve as a resource for Project Managers regarding revenue recognition and invoicing matters.
Set up project budgets in Dynamics SL and ensure accuracy and completeness of project financial data.
Set up revenue schedules in Dynamics SL for various contract @types, including time and materials, fixed price, and scheduled billing.
Create project statistics and related financial information for fixed price projects.
Prepare journal entries for other current assets, customer deposits, hosting costs, fixed price revenue contracts, and scheduled billing contracts.
Prepare monthly payroll journal entries and monthly bonus accrual entries.
Reconcile and prepare journal entries for all intercompany (ICO) activity.
Perform year-end project creation and activation for large clients with annual cut-offs.
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure all accounts are properly supported.
Coordinate and follow up with Project Managers and Account Managers on open timecards, approvals, and corrections to ensure accurate labor and billing data.
Oversee revenue recognition for time and materials, fixed price, and scheduled billing contracts in accordance with company policies and accounting principles.
Oversee timely setup of projects and new clients by other team members, ensuring data integrity and completeness.
Participate in month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and reconciliation of accounts.
Record direct payments to intercompany customers and manage related accounting entries.
Manage the intercompany entry process to ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of intercompany transactions.
Track sales tax by state and ensure proper recording and reporting.
Manage bill rates and labor rates, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to maintain accurate and up-to-date rate structures.
Research variances on Project Profitability Reports and provide explanations and recommendations as needed.
Manage the Accountant, providing guidance, oversight, and support to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
Identify areas for process improvement within accounting operations and contribute to implementing more efficient procedures.
Essential Skills
6-8 years of experience in revenue accounting.
Strong knowledge of advanced financial and accounting principles.
Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with accounting software and office productivity applications.
ERP migration experience.
Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to adhere to established accounting standards and procedures in a fast-paced environment.
Aptitude for learning new systems and tools quickly.
Ability to identify and recommend areas for process improvement.
Experience managing or training junior accounting staff.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in finance or accounting.
Advanced knowledge of revenue accounting concepts and practices.
Hands-on experience with Dynamics SL or similar ERP systems.
Prior involvement in ERP migration projects.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with Project Managers, Account Managers, and other stakeholders.
Ability to analyze project profitability and explain variances.
Comfort working with intercompany transactions and multi-entity structures.
Work Environment
This role operates within a hybrid work environment, with primarily remote work and onsite collaboration approximately once per quarter for 2-3 days. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with some flexibility to accommodate business needs. The Accounting Manager works in a professional office setting when onsite, using technologies such as Dynamics SL, Microsoft Excel, and other accounting and productivity software. The environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven, particularly around month-end and year-end close cycles, and offers the possibility for contract extension and potential conversion to a full-time role.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
