Job Description
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting core accounting operations, including billing, accounts payable, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This position offers hands-on exposure to corporate accounting, reporting, and financial process improvement in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where accuracy, ownership, and follow-through are highly valued.
Responsibilities
Prepare customer billing and complete accurate monthly billing reconciliations.
Process accounts payable paperwork, deposits, and related accounting documentation in a timely manner.
Prepare schedules, sales reports, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation for internal and external reporting needs.
Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Research accounting discrepancies, identify root causes, and resolve issues promptly.
Communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, and vendors to clarify billing, payment, and reconciliation questions.
Support process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy.
Contribute to accounting and finance projects that leverage technology, reporting tools, and AI-enabled solutions.
Maintain organized records and documentation to support audits and internal reviews.
Use Excel and other tools to analyze data, prepare reports, and support decision-making.
Essential Skills
Minimum of two years of accounting experience.
Working knowledge of GAAP and core accounting processes.
Hands-on experience with billing, accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, or financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
Experience with reconciliation and audit support activities.
Strong Excel skills, including v-lookups and pivot tables.
High level of organization, attention to detail, and accuracy in work.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with internal teams, customers, and vendors.
Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize multiple tasks, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration with an accounting emphasis, or a related field.
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and data analysis.
Experience with Sage Intacct, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or a similar ERP/accounting system.
Experience with journal entries, month-end close processes, and accruals.
Interest in using technology, automation, reporting tools, and AI-enabled solutions to improve accuracy, efficiency, and financial insight.
Desire to build skills and grow within a dynamic corporate accounting environment.
Work Environment
This is a 3-month contract position with the potential to transition to a permanent role based on performance. The role is fully onsite, working five days a week, typically from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility for personal appointments. You will work within a collaborative finance team that values accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement. The organization leverages technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to enhance accounting processes and financial insight, providing opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to meaningful process improvements.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr.
