Job Title: Construction Superintendent
Job Description
This role oversees day-to-day field operations for commercial interior construction projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, and with exceptional quality. The Construction Superintendent manages all on-site activities, coordinates subcontractors, enforces safety standards, and maintains meticulous documentation using construction management software. The position focuses heavily on high-end interior fit-outs, including retail, office, banking, and hospitality environments, with a strong emphasis on finishes, millwork, and overall craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations on active construction sites for commercial interior projects from start to finish.
Coordinate and supervise all on-site activities, including subcontractors, trades, and vendors, to ensure smooth project execution.
Maintain accurate and detailed daily logs of jobsite activities, progress, and issues using construction management software.
Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety meetings to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Update Procore and other construction management platforms with daily submittals, progress reports, schedules, and construction documents.
Perform task analysis and break down work activities to align with project schedules and milestones.
Develop and manage look-ahead schedules to anticipate upcoming work, resource needs, and potential constraints.
Ensure adherence to the overall project schedule and proactively address delays or conflicts to maintain timely completion.
Oversee quality control for all aspects of construction, with particular focus on ceilings, millwork, flooring, drywall, and high-end finishes.
Inspect work regularly to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards, and direct corrective actions as needed.
Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to communicate site conditions, progress, and issues.
Enforce company policies and procedures on-site, including safety, quality, and documentation standards.
Manage subcontractor performance, including scheduling, productivity, and adherence to contract requirements.
Support the preparation and implementation of site logistics plans to optimize material handling, sequencing, and site organization.
Address field-level challenges and conflicts in a timely, professional manner to keep the project moving forward.
Communicate clearly and consistently with project teams, clients, and partners to maintain alignment and transparency throughout the project.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a General Contractor (GC) Superintendent, not limited to a specific trade.
At least 1.5 years of experience managing commercial interior projects from start to finish in sectors such as retail, office, banking, or hospitality.
Proven background in carpentry, drywall, millwork, flooring, and high-end finishes.
Demonstrated experience in construction supervision and subcontractor management on commercial projects.
Strong proficiency with construction management software to create, track, and log daily submittals, progress reports, scheduling, and construction documents.
Hands-on experience using Procore for project documentation, reporting, and coordination.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Orange, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr.
