The Warehouse Lead supervises daily warehouse operations, supports a small team, and actively participates in order fulfillment and logistics. This role combines hands-on warehouse work with leadership responsibilities, including delegating tasks, ensuring accurate order picking, and maintaining a safe and organized environment. The Warehouse Lead also interacts directly with customers, supports inventory control, and helps coordinate shipping and receiving activities.
Responsibilities
Lead and support a small warehouse team by delegating work, monitoring progress, and ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Pull orders from stock using order sheets and verify that the correct items, quantities, and specifications are picked for each order.
Package and palletize orders securely to prepare them for shipment and minimize damage in transit.
Load and unload trucks safely using a forklift and other material handling equipment.
Drive a box truck as needed to support shipping, receiving, or local deliveries, following all safety and traffic regulations.
Receive incoming inventory, check shipments against documentation, and ensure items are properly labeled, documented, and stored.
Assist with regular cycle counts and inventory control activities to maintain accurate stock levels.
Use scan guns, RF scanners, and ERP/computer systems to enter, track, and update order and inventory data accurately.
Verify every item and related paperwork for accuracy, including item numbers, quantities, and customer information.
Support will-call operations by assisting customers who pick up orders at the warehouse, ensuring orders are complete and ready on time.
Provide courteous and professional customer service when interacting with will-call customers and other stakeholders.
Climb ladders safely to pick orders stored at various heights and ensure proper handling of materials.
Perform general labor tasks in the warehouse, including organizing stock, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting overall warehouse efficiency.
Follow all safety procedures and best practices when operating forklifts, handling heavy materials, and working in the warehouse environment.
Essential Skills
Proven forklift experience, preferably with large sit-down lifts used in environments such as metal shops or lumber yards.
Demonstrated ability to perform order picking, packaging, palletizing, and general warehouse duties.
Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including loading and unloading trucks.
Comfort operating a box truck and assisting with loading and unloading activities.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to verify items for accuracy and manage paperwork carefully.
Customer service skills, including the ability to interact professionally and courteously with customers.
Experience using scan guns, RF scanners, and computer systems in a warehouse or logistics environment.
Prior experience entering data into a computer or using an ERP system; familiarity with SyteLine ERP is ideal.
Ability to climb ladders safely to pick orders stored at various heights.
Ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds frequently and up to 120 pounds on occasion.
Experience in logistics, inventory, or warehouse supervision or leadership.
Strong sense of responsibility and reliability in a warehouse or general labor environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a metal shop, lumber yard, or similar heavy-material environment.
Exposure to warehouse management practices, including inventory control and cycle counting.
Comfort working in a small team environment and supporting cross-functional tasks.
Willingness to learn and use ERP systems such as SyteLine for order and inventory management.
Interest in developing skills that can support future moves into driving, sales, or administrative roles.

Work Environment
The role is based in a small warehouse environment with a close-knit team of approximately four to five people. The facility supports the manufacturing and distribution of metal roofing, rainwear, and gutter products, and involves handling heavy materials and pallets. Daily work includes operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, using RF scanners, scan guns, and ERP/computer systems to manage orders and inventory. The position requires frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of at least 50 pounds and occasionally up to 120 pounds, as well as climbing ladders to access inventory stored at various heights. Work hours and shifts are structured around warehouse operations and shipping schedules, with a focus on safety, organization, and collaboration in a hands-on industrial setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
