About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager to lead and oversee multiple telecommunications infrastructure projects, including fiber optic, FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home), aerial, underground, and utility construction initiatives. This position is ideal for a proven telecom construction leader who can manage complex projects, develop high-performing teams, and ensure the successful delivery of network infrastructure projects from planning through closeout.
The Senior Construction Manager will be responsible for directing construction operations, managing field leadership, maintaining client relationships, driving project profitability, and ensuring all work is completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.
This role offers the opportunity to oversee large-scale network deployments while working closely with engineering, permitting, utility partners, subcontractors, and executive leadership.
What You'll Do
As a Senior Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the overall execution and performance of multiple telecommunications construction projects.
Project Leadership & Execution
Manage multiple telecom construction projects simultaneously from pre-construction through project completion.
Oversee construction activities involving:
Fiber optic deployment
FTTH network builds
Aerial construction
Underground construction
Directional drilling operations
Coaxial infrastructure projects
Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to customer specifications.
Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Financial & Operational Management
Review project estimates and construction plans.
Manage project budgets, labor utilization, equipment allocation, and production goals.
Review and approve change orders, cost reports, and project forecasting.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency while reducing operational costs.
Track key performance indicators and project profitability metrics.
Safety & Compliance
Promote a strong safety-first culture throughout all operations.
Ensure compliance with:
OSHA regulations
DOT requirements
Company safety standards
Customer-specific guidelines
Conduct and lead safety reviews, audits, and production meetings.
Investigate and document safety incidents as required.
Team Leadership & Development
Provide leadership and direction to Construction Managers, Supervisors, Foremen, and field personnel.
Mentor and develop field leadership teams.
Support workforce planning, staffing, and resource allocation efforts.
Foster accountability, communication, and operational excellence throughout the organization.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary escalation point for project-related issues.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, municipalities, utility companies, and subcontractors.
Coordinate closely with engineering, permitting, and operations teams.
Provide regular project updates and performance reporting to customers and leadership.
Quality Control
Ensure all work meets engineering specifications and quality standards.
Conduct project reviews and inspections.
Oversee subcontractor performance and contract compliance.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across construction operations.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of telecommunications construction management experience.
Experience managing large-scale fiber optic and OSP construction projects.
Strong understanding of:
Fiber Optic Networks
FTTH Deployments
OSP Construction
Aerial Construction
Underground Construction
Utility Coordination
Directional Drilling Operations
Experience supervising construction managers, field supervisors, and subcontractors.
Knowledge of telecom construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
Strong budgeting, scheduling, and project management experience.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, engineering drawings, and specifications.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Telecommunications contractor or service provider experience.
Experience supporting large fiber deployment programs.
OSHA certifications.
Utility, municipal, or broadband infrastructure project experience.
Experience managing multiple markets, regions, or large project portfolios.
Knowledge of permitting and right-of-way processes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $52.00/hr.
