This Medical Assistant position supports a primary care physician in a clinic setting, providing high-quality patient care and efficient clinical support. The role combines direct patient interaction with administrative and clinical tasks to ensure smooth patient flow and a positive experience throughout the visit.
Responsibilities
Room patients by verifying identity, updating medical histories, and preparing them for examination.
Perform check-in and check-out procedures, including verifying information, scheduling follow-up appointments, and coordinating next steps in care.
Order laboratory tests accurately and promptly, following clinic protocols and physician instructions.
Manage patient follow-up and handle incoming calls, including communicating test results as directed, answering questions, and coordinating care.
Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight in the electronic medical record system.
Prepare exam rooms before visits, ensuring cleanliness, proper equipment setup, and adequate supplies.
Perform point-of-care (POC) testing as ordered, documenting results accurately and promptly.
Stock shelves and maintain inventory of medical supplies, ensuring exam rooms and clinical areas remain fully equipped.
Perform standard office tasks such as filing, scanning, and documentation to support clinic operations.
Utilize the electronic medical record (EMR) system to document patient information, update records, and support clinical workflows.
Process medication refill requests in accordance with clinic procedures and physician guidance.
Collaborate closely with the assigned physician and clinic staff to support coordinated, patient-centered care.
Essential Skills
Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical or primary care setting.
Proficiency in medical assisting tasks, including rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and performing point-of-care testing.
Ability to manage patient check-in and check-out processes accurately and efficiently.
Experience ordering laboratory tests and documenting results in an EMR system.
Strong phone etiquette and ability to handle patient follow-up and incoming calls professionally.
Competence in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems for documentation and workflow management.
Attention to detail and accuracy in clinical documentation, medication refills, and administrative tasks.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, maintain stocked supplies, and support smooth clinic operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience using Cerner/PowerChart electronic medical record systems.
Comfort working closely with a primary care physician in an outpatient clinic environment.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative clinical team.
Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and clinic staff.
Reliable, professional, and patient-focused approach to daily responsibilities.
Work Environment
This role is based in an outpatient primary care office setting with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The environment involves regular direct contact with patients in exam rooms, use of medical equipment for vital signs and point-of-care testing, and frequent use of an electronic medical record system, including Cerner/PowerChart. The position requires working on-site in a clinical office, moving between exam rooms, maintaining stocked supplies, and supporting a steady flow of patient appointments throughout the day.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
