Job Title: Residential Service Project Manager / EstimatorJob Description
The Residential Service Project Manager / Estimator leads high-volume estimating and project coordination for residential electrical service work. This role focuses on building strong customer relationships, preparing accurate estimates, and managing projects from initial site visit through completion. You will visit multiple residential sites each day, use estimating software and a tablet to generate bids, and work closely with homeowners, electricians, and office staff to deliver efficient, profitable, and customer-focused projects. Compensation includes a salary with a commission-based bonus structure, and a company vehicle is provided.
Responsibilities
Meet with homeowners and customers to understand their needs and propose appropriate residential electrical solutions.
Prepare accurate estimates and proposals for residential electrical projects ranging in scope from approximately $1,000 to $100,000.
Conduct 6-8 site visits per day and complete some bids on a tablet while on site.
Use estimating software, including Housecall Pro, to develop detailed and timely estimates.
Build trust with customers through responsive communication, clear explanations, and exceptional service.
Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing customers while helping generate new business opportunities.
Serve as a knowledgeable resource for customers, contractors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage projects from estimate through completion, ensuring quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Coordinate project schedules, materials, permits, inspections, and other logistics to keep work on track.
Collaborate closely with field electricians to ensure they have clear scope, plans, and expectations.
Monitor project budgets, change orders, timelines, and customer expectations to maintain profitability and schedule.
Provide regular project updates to customers, electricians, supervisors, and office staff.
Partner with electricians, supervisors, and office staff to deliver successful projects and resolve issues quickly.
Support and promote a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and customer service across the organization.
Maintain accurate project documentation, records, and job files, including estimates, change orders, and closeout information.
Track project costs, profitability, and customer satisfaction metrics to support continuous improvement.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, streamline workflows, and enhance the overall customer experience.
Help ensure all projects comply with electrical codes and meet company standards for quality, safety, and performance.
Essential Skills
Thorough knowledge of electrical codes and their application to residential projects.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings.
Strong customer service and communication skills, with a sales-oriented mindset.
At least 3 years of experience in the electrical industry.
Experience using software tools to manage projects, schedules, or estimates.
Ability to perform accurate bidding and estimation for residential electrical work.
Understanding of electrical construction and low-voltage systems.
Ability to collaborate effectively with electricians, contractors, and office staff.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and estimating.
Capability to monitor budgets, timelines, and project performance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Journeyman or Master Electrician license (preferred).
Residential estimating experience (preferred).
Previous project management or service coordination experience (preferred).
Experience working with or exposure to blueprint reading, electrical construction, and low-voltage systems.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects, site visits, and priorities simultaneously.
Comfort using computers, scheduling software, and project management tools.
Experience with Housecall Pro or similar estimating and service management software.
A positive, solutions-oriented mindset with a genuine desire to help customers.
Demonstrated ability to foster positive working relationships across departments.
Work Environment
This role operates within a residential service division focused on a high volume of electrical projects ranging from approximately $1,000 to $100,000 in scope. You will spend much of your time in the field, visiting 6-8 residential sites per day and interacting directly with homeowners and customers. A company vehicle is provided for travel between job sites. You will use a tablet and estimating software, including Housecall Pro, to create bids and manage project information, sometimes completing estimates on site. The work environment is collaborative, with close coordination between electricians, supervisors, and office staff to keep projects on schedule and within budget. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
